    I get where you're coming from, but it's just to obvious. Given everything else in these books, I get the feeling that whoever Denna's patron is, it's going to come with a bit of a twist. In other words, I feel like Pat is more subtle then that. All the potential clues for it would feel like he's beating you over the head with the answer, instead of the clever riddles and wordplay he's used previously. I going to be dissapointed if it turns out to be that simple.

    I'm rereading them now, and I noticed earlier today that the wood of Kvothe's thrice locked chest (roah) is mentioned to smell of citrus. Aren't the Ctheth's tree and the Lackless box described in a similar manner? I can't remember, or remember if this was mentioned before.

At the same time, it's implied that those with the potential to be namers hear whatever word they know to use for whatever the namer called ('fire' if the namer calls fire, etc.) the 'sleeping mind' heard the name and translated it for them, so they heard that instead of the name.     I don't think you are, but I don't think we'll understand until the next book. Regardless, Puppet strikes me as important. Same thing with all the puppets he makes.     Yeah, I think that was brought up on page... six? seven? I think the general consensus was that he's more likely to be Amyr, affiliated with the Amyr, or at least that someone high up in the library is. Personally, I think that Puppet is the Amyr, based on him knowing the exact location of everything in the library as well as him having far to little a role thus far for all the suspense building.

If I remember right, he actually said that the next trilogy wouldn't have the same main character (but would have characters from Kingkiller Chronicals), and never used a name.     I know I'm knit-picking here, but this always irks me. A couple implies two, and you have far more then that listed, and you should have used a colon after 'out', not a period. That's a fair theory, though I don't see any supporting evidence.     The point wasn't the king, the point was the name being contained in a chest. He says that the Name was written in a book of glass, hidden in a copper chest, and locked away in an iron chest. Kvothe's chest has a lock of iron, a lock of copper, and a lock that cannot be seen. When I lie or write a story, I tend to rely on what I know about the subject in order to make it sound more realistic. I don't even do it consciously, most of the time, it's just something I know so I think that way...

    Rereading Wise Man's Fear, and I noticed a couple things. Firstly, has anyone else noticed the seemingly random capitalization in Denna's letters? At first I thought it was a hidden message, but they don't spell out anything. At the same time, it doesn't seem like something Rothfuss would do for no reason. Any ideas?     I haven't seen the interview where Rothfuss said that, since I don't have an audio card, but a long of things seem to be in the wording with him. From the first post where this was mentioned, I got the impression that the main character wouldn't be the same, the word 'hero' wasn't used. With that impression, you could look at this as the main character in the Kingkiller Chronicles being Kote who is telling a story about Kvothe. If the theory on names is right, Kote could change his name...

    At some point in NOTW, Kvothe mentions the he remembers the troup playing for his mother's family when he was very young. I don't remember what part of the book that was it, and I couldn't find it when I just looked. If someone else does or has time to find it, that might help confirm or deny Meluna being Kvothe's aunt.
