    I thought they just put that in to make Apparition look pretty? Characters popping in and out constantly would look like a B-movie from the 50s. If you do go with smoke flight I think it should be something you accomplish with a powerful magical artifact. Anchoring it to the Dark Mark would make sense if Voldemort held the artifact and had total control or knowledge of DE whereabouts - I can't see him teaching or granting such a flashy ability without complete authority anyway.

    I think I've mentioned it on here before, but my theory is that Dumbledore did complete his Animagus transformation but had no use for it after the initial novelty. Why, you ask?     I just really think Harry was frustrated with the Ministry's incompetence. You're correct about there being no proof, but Harry was (or thought he was) a pretty good judge of character. Plus, because of Sirius, the Ministry throwing people in Azkaban without a trial to cover their asses politically is probably a bit of a berserk button for him.

    Definitely not stated and I don't think it was implied. His memory of ripping off Merope Gaunt was acquired by Dumbledore once Riddle had disappeared having gotten hold of the locket and Hufflepuff's cup. Borgin was the one running the shop by the time the books took place so if Voldemort or someone did decide to off him at some point it was well into the first war.

    Kissed people are considered "good as dead" and the description of Crouch sounded like a complete vegetative state, presumably they die soon after from dehydration (I think that's how Vapormort is possessing Quirrell in MoR if anyone cares).     Wasn't Voldemort immune to Dementors? I thought that was why he could control them much easier than the Ministry could. I always thought of Dementors like a fungus rather than sentient beings. They feed on negativity and their presence suppresses any positive emotion in the people present. Eating souls isn't necessary for survival but they do it opportunistically.     I kind of assumed wizards were fairly ethnically diverse due to British colonialism. If there were magical British imperialists that encouraged as many wizards possible to relocate to England from the colonies, it's not impossible that African or Indian magicals were allowed or encouraged to marry into prominent magic families.     I've actually given the money issue a lot of thought. They don't use regular gold, they use Goblin made currency, presumably to prevent exactly that (melting down and selling to muggles). To make serious profit you'd need to get in with foreign governments or organized muggle crime, which without connections and resources to start with, is more or less impossible to do without getting nailed by both sides (unless there is a wizard mafia, which is pretty much what the Malfoys' operation...

    My mistake, I thought he ran into a legit dementor. I assumed it was JKR building on the "fear of fear" thing by having Harry turn around and whip the things arse with ease because he thought it was only a boggart. :sherlock: Greyback is just a really crappy wizard.     A Black Comedy by nonjon had an interesting take on Harry's boggart. There was a quite funny scene where [spoiler] Though it was primarily a humor/parody fic, I thought that actually fit canon Harry's personality pretty well. We also don't know what Harry's boggart was after he mastered the Patronus, but I'd imagine it changed throughout his life as he encountered new obstacles he hadn't yet learned to overcome.
