    Maybe I was being overly gracious by using the word 'functional'. The dialogue on average is terrible, but at least it's legible English. Some lines were okay. That was about the point where I stopped reading. That line made me scratch my head (I honestly think Ack was trying to be comical there with that line). What surprised me more was the almost-rape scene was sort of graphic for G-rated Spacebattles.

    Centipede does nothing for me. I thought it was okay to start with, but Taylor's growth as a character has been... Self-Loathing Monster => "Lung-Lite" => Weirdly Respected Lesbian Zombie Leviathan Fighter. I so far find the same author's World of Warcraft crossover to be more interesting (and I didn't think I'd make it past the first chapter of that). Taylor, emotionally, isn't very interesting to read in Centipede - and the plot has stalled out since Leviathan (like it usually does...)....

    El Ahrairah is okay. It's readable. The only problem with it is Taylor's ego and her relationship with Cauldron. Numberman is like a daddy to her.     I'd say her power is overly gratuitous - she can have any power she wants to within her "moral comfort zone" on tap. Times three. She's basically Eidolon without the threat of growing weaker.     Worm fandom definitely isn't any better or worse than any other, if we're talking in super generality. Volume does have a thing to do with it, but to be fair, nothing compares to the size of Naruto and HP - they have hundreds of thousands of stories on ff.net, whereas Worm just has a couple thousand plus whatever is on spacebattles. Despite saying that, I actually think that on average the quality of a Worm fic is better than the average Naruto fic. Feel free to disagree, but it's not hard...

    I think you will find it hard pressed to label someone as strictly "evil" in Worm, unless you're trying to describe someone like Sophia or something (who isn't really "evil", she's just a bully).     Yeah, I don't give a shit about nanoforges either. She should do more tinkering in general, but I like the author's writing a drawn-out story. I'm not disappointed at all with it. The story's a tad slow right now, but I think it will pick up again. It's well written with good conflict and Taylor's still likable and understandable. Maybe not the best thing ever, but it works well. I especially like she's assembling a unique team -- SLOWLY, too.

    Skitter's great, yeah, but pretty much after that she goes and becomes Weaver. Which, whlie she continues to do some shady things... it doens't have the same connotation when you're working for the Protectorate, playing by the rules Glenn and co. establish.     Are there any stories where Taylor becomes a "moralistic villain", that is, a villain like Marquis? Like, she has boundries - protecting kids, destroying corruption, murdering people who need it, etc.? Following a code of ethics, but disregarding law? Most of the time I see her written as a hero or as a reluctant villain. It'd be nice to read something where she embraces the freedom of being a villain, to do right without cause for the law. It's maybe a guilty pleasure? But it's a fun type...

    I wouldn't go this far, but I think there's a distinct lack of build-up and character interaction. Case in point, this whole climax and end to "book one". They only just killed Jack Slash and now they're fighting Eidolon... I would have preferred much more build up, espeically final interactions between the Dragonfly and the Protectorate.
