    Ted Lasso. Easy 5/5. Something about the format that bugs me, where characters sometimes seem aware they're in a 30-min dramedy but then I realise they're not, and sometimes things are as they seem, and there's nothing deeper going on. I had that issue with The Grinder too; I really enjoyed it, but something about that transgressive quality (?) broke immersion for me. Both feel very current, but also like they're from an alternate universe that's somehow both culturally a few years...

    True, especially the end of the episode. But I also read it as Beth feeling threatened because Planetina looks almost exactly like her, has powers and saves the planet. While she's there, stuck with Jerry, trying to be sexually open, or however they phrased that with Mr. Nimbus' assistant in the previous episode.

    Recently caught up with Snowfall. The new season wrapped up nicely, but the buildup to the last few episodes were rather lackluster. Compared to the first two seasons, season four feels like OK fanfiction at best. It didn't devolve to Power-levels of cheesy, but it got close. Still a fun ride, but no rewatch value whatsoever. I detected the faintest hint of an English accent in his first appearance, and I thought, "Let's see if he's actually English," and he was. Then I saw it was fucking Dudley.     The Umbrella Academy's second season dropped a few days ago. They learned from some of the mistakes they made in season one, but the finale was more of the same shit, quite literally.     Anyone seen Killing Eve? Sandra Oh's facial expressions are almost another character of their own, haha. She's brilliant. Also, killer soundtrack. A lot of shows suffer when they get stretched out too much, and that happened to Banshee a few times, with the worst time being in the last season, when they had to rush to wrap things up. I'm not sure what it is, and I don't want to say "evil", but it's hilarious. @Nevermind I saw the first episode, but didn't follow up because I was expecting something with more levity.     Deadly Class has been pretty good. I'm a little annoyed the Fuckface storyline isn't getting tied up. How long till they figure out the deal with Shabnam's parents?     The Marvelous Ms. Maisel. Thought I would hate it, but I loved it. Very charming and maybe even wholesome?     Nice, I'll give The Magicians another go. Episode 2 of The Order features a CRT monitor and what looks like Windows 98, lmao. Just finished episode 3, and things got marginally better. Magic comes with a price, usually a bad one. There's werewolves, and they fight the dark arts (wut), and his grandpa is mad fixated on the Order. [spoiler] I've no idea how I feel about this show.     I remember finding Quentin a lot more annoying, but I also felt almost zero connection to any of the other characters. I started watching the show when it began airing, but then couldn't get back into it after a while. I heard it gets better in season 2? If that's the case, is it worth powering through season 1, or can I just wiki/youtube it? But that description sounds about right.     Black Monday is decent. Edgy humour. Plot seems a bit weak/contrived at times, however.     @KGB Exactly. In retrospect, there was very little in the way of character development. Granted, Klaus and Five had some interesting stuff going on, but none of it felt any more impactful than the Cha Cha-Hazel-Agnes sideplot.     @KGB The acting in Umbrella Academy is hit and miss. Klaus and Five were great, though. Really missed Nathan from Misfits. Some parts feel contrived, and I felt like the pacing was off. Granted, it was a "big" event, but it didn't deliver, and I thought there could've been more substance to the plot. It was very enjoyable nonetheless, and I binged it in a few days. I haven't been able to get into Deadly Class. I stopped somewhere in the second episode, but I think I'll try it again.

    Just started FX's Snowfall. Set in the early 80s in South Central. Cocaine trade. There are shifting POVs and the series just dumps you in the middle of the action, but the separate storylines/POVs are connected and create cohesive story. At least, so far. I'm only two episodes in. I haven't seen anything impressive as of yet, but so far, this is hitting the right buttons. There's intrigue, tension and a decent amount of social maneuvering.

    White Gold kept on popping up on Netflix. It put me off for some reason, but I put the gut feeling aside and gave it a go last night. You have to suspend disbelief quite a bit, but it is lots of fun. It's essentially Ed Westwick being a grade A twat and loving it. Picture the extreme narcissism of Danny McBride in Vice Principals/Eastbound and Down, but with more social acumen and slightly more self awareness.     Ballers is very formulaic: everything's great, queue problem, and...then Vince gonn' do da movie! It's pretty much Entourage and I love it.
