    What makes me sadder is the fact that there are already good ideas that have been thought out and are ready to be used, posted early on in the thread by the likes of Jbern, Percy, Vesvius and Lucullus, to name but a few. It's not like there's an armada of great writers waiting for a decent plot bunny to surface so that they can start writing it. There are plenty of good plot bunnies lying around, just no one's bothering to actually write any of them. It's all a worthless discussion...

    A combination of the two ideas could have the French planning to retake the lost territories and attempting to make hostages out of the Triwizard Hogwarts contingent. They try to use Harry - Boy-Who-Lived, tremendously important to Britain as a symbol, etc. - to force a settlement without violence. When Harry proves himself resourceful, the plot fails, and war breaks out.

    Pers and the others are wise, but there's nothing quite as deeply satisfying as deleting stuff that sucks. Even better when there's no one around to protest.     I like "The Art of Healing" for Harry/Gabrielle. The author is a competent romance writer, on par with Jeconais. Unlike Jeconais however, he doesn't need to make Harry all-powerful or the girl a Mary Sue to make it work.

    I still think that the plot bunny would better serve a fully epic story without romance. It'd be nice either way. And rune-carving?     Ragin's is really good, I think. I foresee a lot of dramatic moments I for one could exploit. Once Harry is portkeyed back to the tower and reads Dumbledore's letter, he reads "P.S., Fawkes consented to provide another feather for a wand. Use it well." The set-up is great, in fact so great I feel that it'd be wasted if Harry's sent to the Delacours. In this case I choose the plot over the pairing.     Assassin's Creed has gotten another chapter closer to Harry/Fleur, fellows! Has anyone noticed that all the good prospective Harry/Fleur s so far don't actually have Fleur in them? Jbern's The Lie I've Lived and Swimdraconian's Circular Reason are by far the best stories listed under that pairing, but neither of them have had Fleur introduced to them yet. Harry Potter, scurrying about in Britain killing Death Eaters, discovers that he had been named her guardian.     I found it, not recommended it. It's a Harry/Diablo crossover, and the only other one I've read wasn't particularly good either. If I do check up on it, I'll do so 20,000+ words in and see if the author's better with Diablo. In retrospect, it doesn't seem to be a Harry/Fleur. I bet it's Harry/multi.     I don't see the majority of authors being able to implement a fic in which the first chapters are mostly letters being exchanged with some other filler in such a way that the readers stick with it.
