Hello everyone; I’m currently looking for recommendations on fics to read. I’ve been using Favorites Tracker (telling it to show the HP stories only) and FREE (Fanfiction Recommendation and Entertainment Engine) to come up with some stories but it leaves me with tons of tabs (of what sounds good through the summary or recommendation) trying to sort through the trash looking for good ones.

I think I have around 200-400 fictions open at the moment; though it’s slowly dropping as I separate the Wheat from the Chaff as it were, so it’s getting a bit much and I thought maybe DLP could help. Also if anyone can think of anything similar to The Lie I’ve Lived it would probably help me get some further ideas for the fic I’m currently writing (the only one I’ve started writing but I have two trying to burn a hole in my brain >v<).

I should also mention I have a hard time getting into stories less than 18-20k words (I've looked at most of the [COMPLETED] fics here) as I finish them too fast (Not impossible if they're good like most of the [Oneshot] here). I'd prefer completed fics or ones that still have regular updates if possible. Crossovers are OK but I prefer fics where it's an OC or the crossover characters are more like an OC.

Other than that I’d just like to leave an open message to anyone that they can try to give me a challenge to try my hand at as I didn’t exactly know where to post that as I believe the Challenges section is just for actual Challenges and their replies? (I probably can’t do it on a time limit like an hour due to my circumstances) The list of some of my favorite fics is below.

TLDR? I have too many fics to look through to sort out the crap and finally broke down and am asking for some recommendations, looking for writing challenges and the list of some of my interests is below.I'd prefer completed fics or ones that still have regular updates if possible.

I'm sorry, did you miss the entire purpose of the Library or have I misunderstood this thread?

 

If only there was a place to go where dlp had rated stories to make it easier for people to find quality fanfiction...

No, as I said I've used the library it's that I've exhausted most of them. I've either read them or they've been abandoned/no updates for a while.

Thanks for the replies at least you looked; I hope that help clears things up for you. Let me know if there is something else that isn't clear please I tried not to ramble as I have been known to do; I have a lot of things going around in my head at any given time.

 

If you've already done that try WBA (Stalking Blood Sack comes to mind) and the Almost Recommended thread. If you can't find something that you like or haven't read in either one of these, might I suggest writing your own story to pass the time between updates?

 

If you've gone through the Library maybe you should try the Almost Recommendable List. If you've already gone through that then maybe you should look for a few fics in other fandoms? It's what I do when I can't find any good HP fics to waste my time on.

 

Off topic, but since OP brought it up: What does DLP think of Favorites Tracker? It's an incredibly useful tool for tracking story updates but I've never seen it mentioned here.

 

It's been very spotty at sending me reminders about updates. The FFN one seems to work just as well.

Only thing Favorites Tracker has going for it, is the ability to track stories on other sites (unless they've removed that feature).

 

Oh I was using it to find stories based on categories I thought sounded interesting. I found an interesting challenge... however it's been dormant since '07 so I don't think I'll have much help on the opening yet.

Anyways I've found myself in the mood for Hogwarts Founders Era Time Travel fics such as Lord Ravenclaw's not updated Harry Potter and the Era of Hogwarts or the like; any ideas?
