So, browsing through DLP over the past few days, I hit upon a thread along the lines of 'are there any good h/ginny fics?'.

This got stuck in my head, and I remember part of a single scene from one I read ages ago, but can't remember anything else about.

Scene:
Harry and the Weasleys are sitting around the Burrow's garden, either for Harry or Ginny's birthday. They're dating at this point. Bill or Charlie or Percy makes a comment on how Harry isn't good enough for her, and then Ginny flips out, being her normal red-headed, hot-headed self, and yells out about how he slew 'a dragon for [her]'.

Nobody really believes it, so Harry somehow shows the memory of the fight against the Basilisk. As it ends, whoever it was that challenged Harry whispers something along the lines of 'my god, he DIED for you'.


I know this isn't the usual ship to see here, but I reckoned that asking would be better than browsing through the pile of utter crap that ff.net would contain.

The author of this "story" must be really full of shit because Harry never actually *died* before DH, and you all now the caveat about *that*.

Is it so very hard to differentiate between "OMG, he was ready to die for you" and "OMG, he DIED for you!"?!

Or is this just a problem of the vacuous minds of H/G shippers?

 

He would have died if it weren't for Dumbledore ex machina, so there's some justification for it, as much as I hate to give credence to a twu wuv H/G fic. That said, a H/G fic where all of the Weasleys suddenly hate on Harry instead of pulling him into their incestuous clan while chanting 'one of us, one of us' isn't exactly uncommon. It's a standard gambit to whip up some drama and show how dedicated Ginny is or some shit, then she can pull shit like that and everyone's awed at how pure their love is and brb puking.

 

The thing is at that point Harry would do same thing for Pansy P. Or any other girl as long as he had passing familarty.

So he killed Basilisk for her argumend is piece of shit.

 

That line was the only thing that stuck with me, which is why I included it. The fic wasn't all that great, but in a period of crap!deluge, it was readable, and mildly enjoyable.

And is it really the author's fault if the Weasley's are stupid?

 

It's a common plot device in Harry/Ginny shipping fics (hell, they really didn't interact all that much in canon, so there's a limited number of episodes from which they could have drawn). You might try skimming the top rated stories over on SIYE or Phoenixsong if that's your kink.
