Looking for fics (not one-shots, unless they're long like SFFP) with compelling, vivid imagery. Any genre, prefer completed fics but I'll read WIPs and even abandoned fics too.

Prime examples of what I'm looking for are Circular Reasoning, Harry Potter and the Assassin's Creed, and Sister, Mine.

Hmm... sounds like a difficult request. I'm sure that everyone has their own opinions on what's "vivid" or not.

I would tentatively offer Wastelands of Time up. I always thought that Joe's descriptions were particularly vivid--I had no trouble picturing everything in my mind, at least.

 

Ectomancer by RustyRed is very good in this regard.

You've literally read everything in the library and C2, so we shouldn't mention any fics in those?

These aren't as well-known as the examples already cited, maybe you haven't read some of them:

Control by Anomynous58 - atmosphere is one of its strongest points

Lost Time by Amerision - there aren't exotic flashy fantasy locales like in the other stories, but the settings in the wizarding world and the forensics department are great.

The Demon Within is an older fic, but Thor Nairda was so spectacularly good at creating visuals that the descriptions in the second phase of the story can compete with anything written recently. The worldbuilding is the best in HP fanfiction.

Grimm by belleradh - If the writing style clicks with you then this is truly excellent fare. It didn't click with me, but I noticed the immersive atmosphere immediately.

The Strangergod by me, I wrote it specifically as an exercise at vivid imagery. I personally think I did well. It's short though, but you also included Sister, Mine in your list.

Project M by Water Mage - particularly in the action sequences. The most recent chapter is amazing.
