That isn't true at all. There were a number of monarchs who were less "powerful" than some of their vassals and who nonetheless managed to keep their throne/be king. Indeed you could argue that this is true for most of the medieval monarchs... This idea that the king= most powerful person in the realm is utter bullshit with no historical basis...

    No.

He has people who can do that. He just has to give the orders. Planning to evacuate Casterly rock must have begun when they learned that Dany and Tyrion were at Dragonstone.

Honestly, guys, this is a TV show that is getting into its endgame. Superfluous things like travel time are not a consideration anymore.

Now the show is concentrating on wrapping up the story and plot points. If they had more time, Dany in westeros would have taken 5 more seasons to go through normally.

Just enjoy the show and wait for Martin to complete his books.

Your thinking far to basic in terms of power. Power can be money, inheritance and divine right, military, charisma ect. A inherited monarch starts with a power advantage but if they don't back it up with others they won't stay monarch.

Also simple inertia is power; often it's advantageous to keep the current monarch ruling instead of rocking the boat. The conservative choice, if you will. And sometimes you can have more actual power by being the "advisor" behind a weak king than by outright usurping.

Dany doesn't have that, but then again neither does Cercei.

It's interesting to think who is the conservative choice right now. Dany has the Targaryen heritage, but seems to be more and more mad and bloodthirsty. Cercei is also mad and bloodthirsty, and has her claim only by marriage, and through Joffrey and Tommen - both of whom are known to be bastards, especially now that Cercei doesn't give a shit about people knowing she's fucking her brother.

Also both Cercei and Dany are women, which has to be rubbing the male lords the wrong way. Traditionally women in Westeros only have power through their husbands and children, not by themselves.

Really I wouldn't be all that surprised if more than a few noble houses around Westeros were thinking that the North has the right idea, and that no one really needs Iron Throne for anything anymore.

Why though? Dragonstone is on the other side of the continent, that would be like assuming that because someone is in Grenada that they were invading Peru. At this point the directors have their thumbs on the scales for the Lannisters, because they need more drama than Daenerys simply sailing up and having everyone accept her because she didn't just blow up the pope and kill all her allies while having two kingdoms firmly behind her and dragons.

Not to keep harping, but this is especially egregious this season, even more than last, if you so much as glance at a map.

The thing that makes it worse is not that they're huge distances of months of travel being skipped, so much as the quantity of people they're skipping it for.

One or two people being able to move faster than average in transit is possible.

Entire fucking armies doing so is flatly not. The logistical timeskips involved there make me angrier than the travel ones tbh.

For instance, the siege of Highgarden should have took months if not years, especially without an asspull back door like Tyrion pulled with the Rock.

Now that you mention it, wtf? I mean, I get that Randyll Tarly is a grade a douche, but why would he ally himself with a house whose most notable recent accomplishments include murdering the head and heirs of their biggest ally, incest, and oath breaking? Why would anyone trust a single word coming out of Cersei's and by extension, Jaimie's mouth?

He doesn't trust them at all, but he's an opportunist. I guarantee that when Dany has the upper hand he'll switch sides.

I guess, but you'd think people would learn that any opportunity provided by the Lannisters come with a huge price tag.

I did like how the greyscale cure is literally peeling it off though. Absolutely ridiculous.

Not all that ridiculous really. Just assume it's like a really pervasive fungus. Fungal agents can't always penetrate the dermal layer until they reach orifices. So Sam stripped away the existing fungal infection and then applied an anti-fungal.

Edit: What's ridiculous is that the Maesters haven't spread the the knowledge that removal of the plaques when they're at an early stage can potentially cure the disease if you apply the ointment. "It's a risky procedure" is a bullshit excuse.

Since when have the Maesters been interested in spreading their knowledge around? They're all about hoarding as much information as they can to maintain their monopoly.

In a feudal setting, Tarly is not alone. He would have to consider what his supposed allies in the Reach would think of throwing in with a power that controls nothing and bites back at every hand that has helped it.
The Loras-Margaery trial would have people from houses other than Tyrell, so that little stunt should have killed many other, effectively turning many houses against the adulterous, incestuous fool who crowned herself .

That's what bugged me about Tarly's agreement. Sure Olenna is out for revenge, but you'd think that everyone else would be too. Cersei flaunting the incest proves that Stannis and others were right from the start, and then when Cersei killed a decent cross section of the nobility in order to effectively steal power from her son she's pretty firmly on the terrible people side.

I recognize there's an element of selfishness in people, but Tarly should be thinking that if he sides with Olenna he's on the side with dragons and that the raping hordes would be going somewhere else. That combined with everyone wanting to kill the queen who murdered their family members in a church should have made Dany queen by acclamation prior to episode one.

Tarly's actions made perfect sense to me. Cersei is a vindictive cunt. If he appears to cross her, he knows that normal human decency - even by dicey Westerosi standards - will not temper her reaction.

Dany on the other hand is a clean slate. Even if he knows nothing about her by reputation he'll understand the desire of a conqueror to earn the favour of the nobility and smoothly take over power after deposing the Lannisters.

Playing along with Cersei then switching sides once he can safely hide behind a Dothraki horde and three dragons is a lesser gamble than committing wholly to one side this early.

I only have one question ... where is Ghost?

They brought back fucking Nymeria. Citing budget is no excuse at this point, and at least all the other Direwolves were reasonably explained away/killed. The fuck is Ghost supposed to be doing?

Well, there hasn't been much for Ghost to do. I doubt they are going to increase their costs for no other reason than just to have Ghost walk alongside him.
