I'm damn glad this exists. Best Severus/Lily fic I've ever read, and I've been craving a great one for years. The plot isn't at a fast pace, but that's the way I like it. It introduces [or re-introduces] quite a bit of intelligent concepts seamlessly.

Characterization is brilliant— it may seem inconsistent, but that's simply 1. Lily's age and 2. Snape's time-travelling. The age gap also doesn't come across as creepy. I agree with someone else's post that Snape is what Harry should have been in terms of power + intelligence, and this fic is a great example. Have always enjoyed Snape-centric fics.

As for the romance, Snape's the one showing restraint and that makes it more realistic. It doesn't intrude or take up space. The development of their romance is well-paced and written wonderfully. There's no pointless sex.

Getting technical, the writing is top-notch. No errors I can see [though I'm very immersed in this, so maybe they're left unnoticed]. Use of sentence structure, etc. is well-done.

    So. 5/5. It's everything I want in a Snape/Lily. And, sequels please.

Call me tasteless, but after reading this, I'd say 5/5 is what it deserved.

Read this in one go. The other comments in this thread have said it all. It was a pleasure to read and I'm sad to see that it's incomplete.

    5/5

-Edit- (improving a sorry-ass necro bump)

I liked the characterizations a lot. All characters had their own voice, which is commendable. Slytherins were uniformly eloquent and polite, and even then the bullies (Avery and the others) had a different voice from Crouch Jr and Regulus (I could picture Regulus from the way he wrote alone). Snape is competent and trying to not be an asshole and Jigger is competent and an asshole. It just fits. James Potter could've used more charm and cunning, but his behavior towards Lily was pretty close to what we're told about in Canon.

The part about Slytherin BDSM dungeons was pretty out there and didn't really fit, seeing how Lily is 15 or 16.

His immediate success at his NEWTs should have attracted more scrutiny, especially when his practicals for OWLs and NEWTs were just a few days apart and involved Snapes at vastly different mental ages.

Overall, this was a great read but the aims established in the first few chapters were forgotten as the story progressed and I think the author just wasn't interested in doing yet another Horcrux Quest.
Severus' goal of making a Horcrux-dissolving potion were also quite out there, I doubt he'd be able to do something of the sort. Severus was counting on a very small chance of discovering something that could get rid of all the Horcruxes, assuming he could even get them in the first place. And that he knew about Horcruxes was also pretty out of band. The fic could've skipped the Horcrux Quest motivations and still gotten Severus out of school. It would've certainly been cleaner.

Also, Severus' self-administration of the "bloodline extinguisher" (or whatever) curse was a very bad decision -- Trelawney's prediction was a few years away and Severus could've just asked Lily to not get into trouble for the next few years, or even just convinced her to not join the order. Either way, assuming the prophecy would be unchanged or have minor changes would be a pretty delusional outlook. Especially when you give up the chance to bone your proto-soulmate that you came back in time to gawk.
