Um, though I'm using this for more than an anti-slash machine, would a pair of radio buttons for 'include/exclude slash' which, depending on selection, allow for male characters in the include list or exclude all male characters from list B, work?

I'm a hard noob at this sort of thing, but a 'no male character B' option might be the solution for that particular problem...

    Edit

Max/min word fields might want to increase and decrease by the thousand, not by one, on the little arrows.

    Edit 2

And while I'm at it, an 'Ascending / Descending' choice on the Sort By bit would be awesome. If I remember correctly, that's a beef I've always had with ff.net's search capability (but it's been so long since using it, I'm not sure).

    Awesome tool. Cheers.

I unchecked the Angst and Romance style. The browser still presented me with a Angst/Romance story or Adventure/Romance, etc.

    Otherwise, amazing job!

Also, I've got a question: does going to the next page of search results force the engine to re-do the entire search? Because it seems to be taking a really long time to load page 2.

Technically, yes (Well, depends on the cache). However, that's not the reason grabbing the next page is slow.

There seems to be some general stability issues stemming from people running searches and selecting almost, but not quite, all of a character list. I'll see if I can't hammer out a fix for it tonight. If someone runs one of those searches after you view page 1 but before viewing page 2, it'll slow down grabbing page 2

Great tool, can't wait to get home and use it properly.

Small nitpick, can't scroll through the genre or character list on my iPhone, but the character list has the search so it's not to bad.

A weight search option would be helpful too.
    Weight = Size / Chapters

so we can skip pointless stories with 0-2k per chapter for instance

Soo... basically sorting by average chapter length?

He probably doesn't want to sort them by chapter length but rather have a way to exclude stories with chapter lengths below a set threshold.

Maybe have an advanced search option with all these features... =P Or, hell, give users ways to construct custom search queries. AFAIK this should be possible, but the only database related work I've done has all been client-side apps.

Wow, thank you so much. I've been looking for something like this for literally years, the closest I ever came was that one chrome extension that sorts stories per page by number of reviews...it was nice, but did nowhere near what this does. Thanks again.

This is probably purely due to the no doubt large amounts of traffic the server's getting, but search results are taking an upwards of a minute to load. Perhaps consider taking up Lord Ravenclaw's offer? Haha just a thought.

Enjoy your new title. At DLP, we appreciate cool work. As a career Software Engineer, I love seeing exploration. Lets get you some better hardware to work with, as long as it doesn't restrict you. I'd be happy to speak with you at length about it. I'll send you a PM and we can get in touch.
