Yeah this is definitely true, its a big damn chore to get through the very first parts of the game but once you actually start to learn the ropes you can find a ton of entertainment in all of it. Although I will say its almost hilarious how stupid some of the enemies are in this game, as a tip as soon as you are capable of it in Terraria build a lava moat around your stronghold. If built correctly enemies will march right into it single file and die but leave all of their loot intact so you can simply wait until they've all an heroed and wander outside to collect their loot at your leisure. I remember once I missed an entire Goblin army attack on my base while I was underground on the 17th floor working in my Corruption farm. I finally came back up stairs and still wouldn't have even known it happened if it wasn't for the massive pile of money and supplies now sitting in my lava moat.

My most soul crushing time in this game was digging my hellavator drop shaft. Then I decided to branch out, and start digging towards the dungeon. Freaking guardians came out and one shot me before I got anywhere NEAR the sumbitch, lol.

Oblivion's on sale today. Year of the Game Edition for 3.74 pounds, Deluxe for 4.99. Should I get it? Never got into the Elder Scroll Series, but with all the hype running rampant right now about Skyrim, I figured this might be a good way to get into it.

By all accounts, Skyrim is a better game than Oblivion.

There's no real reason to play Oblivion first, unless you're unable to play/afford Skyrim now. I'm going to replay Oblivion soon for this reason.

If you do get Oblivion, then you're going to want to go to TES Nexus, the home of every Elder Scrolls mod worth looking at.

Honestly? Although the main quest was crap in Oblivion, I actually prefer Oblivion to Skyrim. Unless you're stumbling across things as you wander the world, Skyrim is pretty dull.

If you're only buying Oblivion to familiarise yourself with the Elder Scrolls, in preparation for Skyrim, I wouldn't buy it. For all that Skyrim and Oblivion are in the same series, they're very different games.

The majority of Oblivion's content is based around its quests. It's in an open world, for sure, but it's far emptier than Skyrim's.

Skyrim's quests are shit for the most part, but the world itself is far more engaging. If you don't explore, you'll miss at lot of the content.

Oblivion is definitely worth buying, in my opinion. Bethesda only used something like 10 voice actors for the whole thing, and the main quest is pretty dull, but overall, its quests are far better than Skyrim's.

Dungeons Defenders. Awesome for what it is. Cartoony, funny, enjoyable little indie game. Got quite a lot of miles out of it lately, since I can play it single player offline when I don't have net access. Worth every cent.

Will you play the multiplayer regularly? If so then absolutely, if not then its probably not worth the effort. Its disgustingly fun to play multiplayer but the single player campaigns are just kinda meh at best.

I'm far more of a single-player guy than anything else. So I guess that it's a no.

I mean I'm not gonna tell you that its awful or anything but this game was designed entirely for the multiplayer and it shows. If you actually want to get your moneys worth out of either of the Left 4 Dead games I would really suggest trying the multiplayer. Playing four player co-op is fairly fun but the really entertaining parts are where your team gets to play as the Zombies at which point it goes from four player co-op survival horror to four player co-op hilarious griefing engine. If you work together it is so damned funny its stunning. I personally prefer playing as one of the special infected called a Smoker which has an extendable tongue that you can strangle people with and use as basically a murderous grappling hook. It has never once failed to be fucking hilarious waiting for the inevitable one idiot to break away from his friends while you hide on the roof and then choke dragging the poor bastard up three stories while his friends try and figure out what the hell just happened.

I'm not a huge multiplayer guy but if your ever going to play any of these multiplayer titles this is one of the few I would absolutely recommend giving a shot.

Some of the best moments I have had on the internet (outside of porn) has come from L4D2. I met a bunch of friends and joined a clan and jesus fuck does it get fun.

Just one thing - make sure you have a mic! When you need to tell someone to hurry the fuck up and you can stop lest the zombies eat your fucking face off.

I do hope you got L4D2. The multiplayer part is pretty fun, and actually got me into multiplayer games in general.

Also, at the risk of seeming like a sad sack of meat: 378 hours played. Somehow. That's an endorsement of sorts.

Oh, and mod community maps extend it's life by a long stretch. Some good ones are: Forest Temple remake from OoT, Crash Bandicoot, and a Goldeneye inspired map.

Dont worry about it too much, I have literally not seen a single large sale on Steam where L4D one and two weren't some of the first games on the table for dirt cheap, you will absolutely have another chance to pick it up for nearly nothing probably quite soon.
