Looking at the cover, I'm once again reminded that Harry has never worn a hat in the story. Personally, I'd make fun of it by having a cover without it when he finally puts it on his head in the book. Maybe in the Apocalyptic Trilogy.

While lever-action shotguns do exist, the gun geek in me wants it to be a Winchester Model 1873, just because it'd be fucking awesome.

That's what it looked like to me as well, and it would fit well with his revolver too. They are so much fun too ...

Been reading the official forums to learn more about CD, and I seem to recall reading someone there mention that Jim had infact confirmed that the weapon IS a Winchester. I don't recall any mention of specific models (and I know nothing about them), but if it looks like 1873 then presumably thats what it is (unless there are other similar looking ones there).

Can't recall who it was or in which thread though, sorry. Search for "winchester" in Butchers forums if you are interested enough.

EDIT: Well, I did a quick look at all posts by Jim Butcher and it was there so here it is anyway:

Sometimes I think Jim geek's out way too much (Star Trek scene, LotR scene). There is definitely going to be a couple paragraphs on the power of the .45LC somewhere in Cold Days.

He could have gone with the easy option and given Dresden the same round as his pistol, but you just KNOW there's going to be 3-4 paragraphs on the .45 in the book.

I predict an "OK Corral"-type shoot-out between Dresden and Fix, interrupted in just the nick of time to prevent Dresden obliterating Fix with or without magic.

I'm hoping more that Dresden manages to avoid anything that Fix doesn't start himself. It'd be badass in a roundabout way, since most Winter Knights can't do crap but exactly what they're told (Dresden and Mab discussed at the end of Ghost Story how he was going to do things his way, etc.). I suspect whatever happens though will be cool -- and I am looking forward to seeing Fix played opposite Harry.

Yes, Ellisande, Fix being the Summer Knight is a big fat spoiler.

    For book 4.

I read something about a shoot out between Fix and Dresden, and stopped reading. I only check this thread to see if there's a link to the first chapters of Cold Days available yet.

No spoilers so far Elli -- it's been speculation and what we want/expect to see.

Somebody post the 2 chapter-preview already. I already own the hardcover copy of Ghost Stories and no book store by me has the paperback version yet (losers) so I can't read them. :(

And on a side note. Has anybody else reread the books more then like 4 times or am I the only one? I always start to read them over again around every 4-5 months. Especially when a new one is getting released.

I've read most of them that many times. I think I've only read the first four books twice, but then I wasn't quite as fond of those. The later ones I've read at least three times each. I think I've read Turn Coat/Dead Beat/Proven Guilty half a dozen times... but those have a higher count partially because I keep them in Jeep, so if I am at a restaurant / stuck waiting somewhere I have something to pick up and check out.

Same here. The first time I've read Dresden was after Proven Guilty and I've got this habit of re-reading the series before every new book. As for Cold Days, I think re-reading since Small Favor should refresh my memory enough.
