So, the funny thing about this is that nobody does a proper research these days? Or that they believe everything they read on the Internet instead of everything they read in their preferred holy book?

 

I think you'd find more truth on the internet than in "holy" books.

That said, it looks like the text in the pic is deceptive. While Mithra is a Zoroastrian deity who was worshipped centuries before Christ, the attributes in the poster [born of a virgin, son of god, etc] weren't attributed to him until the Roman Mithras cult in the first couple of centuries AD. At least, not as far as we can tell. We don't know an awful lot about the Mithras cult, and most of the ancient Zoroastrian texts have long been lost.

The Mithras cult and early Christianity have a lot of parallels, but they developed at more or less the same time, and I didn't see much proof over who stole which parts from the other. I also read some conjecture that there was little to link Mithras [of the Roman cult] to the older Mithra [of Zoroastrianism] apart from their names.

It'd be delightful if we could prove that Mithras had these Christ-like attributes long before Jesus was supposedly around, but that just doesn't stand up. Unfortunately. :c

Anyway, that's what "the internet" tells me.

tl;dr: The poster is a nice bit of propaganda, but like most propaganda, is bullshit.
