I had not thought of it like this at all, but I really like the imagery inherent in this description. Nicely done.

Edit: On a completely unrelated note, is anyone else fully expecting that at some point (probably near the end trilogy of books) Harry's constant references to pop culture are going to actually become relevant? I mean, in Ghost Story, we find out that all those worlds exist in some form somewhere (Spiderman is real somewhere!)... so who is to say that by the time we've gotten through another ten books Harry won't have interacted with all his pop culture references? :)

I'm not sure that any of what you wrote was necessary to be in spoiler.
But let's also not forget that Harry is part of Winter now. And for faeries, at least, reputation=power in a direct translation. Toot grows in strength by attaching himself to Harry. Now that every mother fucker in the room is wary of Harry, it's possible that his power will grow directly as well.

And perhaps Toot will no longer be a part of the little-folk.

Personally, I find Toot-Toot's rise to power even more interesting than Harry's own progression. My crazy theory is that he will be the one to unite two Courts and the rest of Faerie against whatever enemy they will be facing in the Apocalypse Trilogy.

There's not enough pizza in the world for that endeavor, I'm afraid.

Most likely not but people have gotten pissy with me often enough that I figure its better to just spoiler tag it and not need to rather than not spoiler tag it and piss people off.

Also I had actually not even vaguely considered that but that is an excellent point about reputation.

Last I would love Jim Butcher to bits and fucking pieces if he has Santa show up to beat some Fae ass in this. We know he's real in Dresdenverse and one of the strongest Fae around. What do you say LittleChicago? Call it a fan request?

Sexy awesome chapter was sexy. I legit went, "Oh snap," at the following exchange:

"Okay? I’m not like Lloyd Slate.”

“Neither was he,” Sarissa whispered. “Not at first.”

Two weeks to go. Need moooorrrreee.

“Okay,” I said. “Uncomfortable silence is uncomfortable. Why don’t you tell me what I need to know for tonight?”

    Rageface.

Yeah, that's right. Harry Dresden is one of them. People who say internet memes in conversation.

Even though he doesn't have a computer.

    Next chapter opens like this:

I entered the chamber like I owned the place and looked straight at Mab.

"My Queen, how's it going?" I smiled my best troll-smile at her as everyone in the room gasped at my outrageous disregard of Winter laws. "U Mad?"

More to the point, he can't operate one without potentially destroying it.

He can actually, but it takes a huge amount of will to control his magic to be able to.

Which is basically what the guy said.
    He said "potentially destroying it".

To be fair, a figure of speech like that could easily have been acquired from the Alphas or Butters or w/e over the last couple of years. It's not like he doesn't spend a great deal of time around various people who are immersed (for lack of a better term) in geek/internet culture.

If nothing else, it's far less egregious than referencing songs that he almost certainly can't have heard, or the like.

Also, is it a bad thing that I don't even notice these references until someone (usually here) comes along and points it out?

I noticed it immediately, and then I assumed it was just his way of talking. Easier to assume he did it for emphasis than as an actual meme.

I have to admit the pop culture references are bothering me especially with their frequency - its not that I find them unfunny, but rather because it just seems lazy to me. Like Butcher's going the Family Guy route and throwing them in there in place of actual wit.

Truthfully I doubt it will really prevent me from enjoying the story but it does take something away from it.

Regardless, I have to say I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of Cat Sith. Also slightly dissapointed we didn't find out who the party is for this chapter. How many chapters is Butcher releasing before the story comes out?

Two more, for a total of five.

One next Tuesday, then another the following the Tuesday, coinciding with the release of the book.
