Are the games inside the card package or are they given by the dealer?

Make sure your PSU can hang if you upgrade the card.

Whenever I've gotten a game with a video card, it's been included as a download code in the package.

I forgot to ask: How many 6-pin connectors do you have on your PSU? You'll need two for the 7850. If you have none, then check how many molex/4-pin connectors you have free.

I only have one 4 pin connector free. If I need to buy a new psu which one would be best?

Depends on what's available in your region. Here are some examples from Cooler Master, Corsair, Thermaltake and Antec. If you can then get the Antec, since it has 3 +12V rails, is modular and has an efficiency of 85%.

So, some of my more tech savvy friends have suggested that I upgrade my processor, ram, mobo & psu before I upgrade my gpu. I have about $370 right now and hope that I'll get another $275 dollars in a couple of months. Which option do you think will be best?

Should I simply upgrade my gpu now and upgrade the other parts later or should I do the reverse?

I can't remember what CPU you have and it wasn't in the first post. But at some point you're going to be basically upgrading everything.

I have a core 2 duo E7500 processor. My exams are near so I won't be playing too many games, mostly just empire and napoleon total war for now.

Keep it for now imo -- upgrade the processor/mobo when Haswell comes out in a couple of months.

Well, if you plan on getting the 7850, then you'll have to get a new PSU. So get the PSU first and then look how much cash you've still got after that, then decide what else to get.

Corsair or Seasonic IMO. Both look good and 600 W should serve you fine for a while. If I had to pick one I'd go with the Corsair -- I have one currently and it's been fantastic.

Definitely the Corsair or the Seasonic. Cooler Master PSUs have a reputation for being shit. Seasonic is the OEM for a lot of the good brands/models, so they're solid. In fact, there's a decent chance that the Corsair and Seasonic options are the same thing with different branding.

Would a 7850 be overkill for gaming at 1280x1024 resolution?

Yes. I don't think you need an expensive gpu if you aren't gaming at 1080p. What is your monitor resolution? 1080p has been the standard for desktop monitors for awhile.

Its native resolution is 1280x1024 at 60Hz. I got it for free from a relative and I'm not planning to change it anytime soon.

I agree that at that resolution you don't need a really high end GPU.

    So, would a 7770 suffice?

At that resolution... yes, I think it would do nicely. Still a great card.
