Any idea why those search features aren't built into the site and instead require an addon?

Congrats to Evantide for winning Spacechem! Check your email for the key.

Congratulations to everyone else who entered; we successfully kept Big Z's game-winning snout out of the trough.

Unfortunately, Z seems to have luck shifting powers. Deny him at one point and he wins at the other. I had this conversation 20 minutes ago:

    Thanks, yak.

BTW, is steam gifts keys only or can I also actually gift the game? Is there any way that it won't bite me in the ass if I do gift the game and the recipient says they don't get it?

    That reminds me:

    Pay Day: The Heist

    Giving this one away.

Either way is fine. You can send a Steam key via email or use the 'Send Gift' button in your Inventory page [then choose by email or send directly to a specific account], or use the 'Invite to Trade' method.

The email methods allow you to send a game to anyone. The non-email ones require you to 'friend' the winner first.

    Big Z probably knows this.

At the very least there is a form of honor system. If you win a game, you are supposed to put it on your account, or at least not turn around and re-gift it on steam gifts, in a cyclical way to raise to donator value. It's also related to the account synchronization facet of the sight. Although I do have one game sitting in my gift inventory(gifted via steam, rather than being given the key), that I won a while back.

It's more than an honour system. If you don't add the games to your Steam library, and get caught out, you will be banned, it doesn't matter how many $1000s you've donated in games previously. Big Z's pointed out a few banned accounts to me in the past.

They're especially vicious if you don't even have the gifted game in your inventory anymore.

It was once the case that SG.com would only care about the Receiver not activating a won game if the Gifter reported it. I'm not sure if that's still the case with the automated Sync system. Either way, if you don't want to be banned from SG, add the game to your Library asap.

Oh, and always check the 'gift sent/gift received' box after your comps! That's important.

Fair enough. I just had not added the game yet, since I hadn't felt the random whim to play it. Everything else was simply a game key, so I added them right away. I guess I'll do my right duty and add it to my account. Not like I was really intending to give it away anyway.

I can confirm this. SG doesn't automatically check actually with its sync, so it's very possible to fly under the radar. However, quite a few gifters and other people will check your profile once you win a game to confirm that you've been following SG rules. Mods will auto approve a reroll of a giveaway if the gifter finds out the winner broke a SG rule. So yeah, unless you want to get hit with the double whammy of a reroll of a win AND a suspension, just activate all your wins.

You also may not think it matters but some of the higher profile gifters maintain a blacklist. Blacklists are allowed for private/group giveaways and considering those are great odds, making a blacklist won't exactly help your cause as well.

Is there a way to search for group giveaways without the silly addon?

    No, there's not.

Steam giveaway groups handle it in one of two ways.

    1) Whenever you create a giveaway, you'd go to your group's giveaway thread and post the link to your new giveaway. eg. What we're doing in this thread.

    2) Use the addon. Right now it's showing me six DLP giveaways with very, very good odds.

    1. http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/cOnEf/war-of-the-roses-kingmaker
    2. http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/0qpSI/warlock-master-of-the-arcane
    3. http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/IekEZ/command-conquer-red-alert-3-uprising
    4. http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/RPfAO/crusader-kings-ii
    5. http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/5Isv8/stalker-shadow-of-chernobyl
    6. http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/ozgvb/mirrors-edge

Why is SG+ "silly"? Having trouble installing it?

I'm not a fan of adding sketchy addons that aren't in the chrome store.

That addon is awesome. I've automatically filtered any public giveaways without a cv requirement and it saves me a TON of time from scrolling. I'd filter out by cv as well but there are sometimes some great flash giveaways without high cv requirements.
