    Still just to Dominic

"Um... ways to summon those from Outside. As in beyond even the Previous Ones (Asmodeus and co.), along with some basic info. From what I read though, I don't plan on invoking them in any way unless I can be sure things won't go too... awry. They are Dangerous. Also, would you believe that Balin had it?"

"A bit of a mixed bag, I suppose, but more magic cannot harm us. I suppose it goes without saying that you have surveyed the area for things that would allow you to help us and been left wanting as well?"

    Quietly
"Oracles and magicians, eh? Besides our sleeping friend and our strong man, we appear to have a great number of casters. Well, it seems that our captors are at least competent enough that there is no easy escape. As this is the case, I see no harm in taking time to properly introduce ourselves. I am Hadzan, sorceror and thief, and a rather gifted... producer of documentation, if you understand my meaning. Besides the charming Ruby, who stands before me?"

Deflating a bit, "Ah, I see. Still, for Balin to have something like that, it's likely he has other things of the sort. Perhaps confiscated during his travels, but they could also be there for a more nefarious reason. Ignoring the source, if we had the right protection, like that provided by a god, we could very well bring a strong Outsider to this realm."

    Even quieter to Dominic

Well... a secret amongst Magi could let me around the normal limitations and I have summoned one before so...

In a normal voice to the other cellmates

I'm Kevdak. A man of myriad talents.

"Roland, bastard of the miserable and ill begotten house of Bloisne, Sorcerer and obviously scion of the infernal pits. Also as of the last several days convicted serial arsonist." I introduce myself before quietly muttering, "Not that any of that's ever been useful for much aside from getting me into this blasted mess."

To the cell, "I am Dominic, in case you had not heard. Gnomish oracle of forgotten and ignored gods, their mouthpiece in these lands. I was spreading their word when I was captured by these vile do-gooders."

Can we hear ChoasGuy and Dellez? If not, and a perception check to hear them is possible, I strain to hear them (Perception check eighteen) http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4429125/

Also, I'm not sure if a bluff check is necessary for my message to Dominic or not, but if it is then roll that for me, if you will. I'm buttering him up.

"Dominic, Gnome Oracle... As it happens, I have heard of you. Dominic is a whispered name in the underworld that I come from, well known for his connection with dark gods and divine powers, as well as his disregard for the Mitran Law. The fools that betrayed me to the crown feared your connection to these old gods and hated you, as they hated me, but we are alike. Ostracized by our lessers, and captured for our talents, but above them all. Should we... no, when we escape, we should stick together, you and I. I cannot return to what I was, but I can perhaps be beneficial to you, and you in return to me."

    Quietly
Another Sorcerer, an Oracle, and a man of many talents... Hmm. There is a plan in here somewhere, but it has yet to take shape for me. I will deliberate on it for a while. If any of you comes up with a clever plan, share it amongst the group, and I shall do the same.

To anyone who can understand Gnomeish:
Hmm? A gnomeish speaker among these heathens and tall men?
Regardless, it is good to hear that my name carries weight. Even the non-devout, especially the non devout, have something to fear from the gods.
I accept the validity of your proposal, arcane and divine arts together make for a powerful combination.

From another cell, you hear a loud yell.

Voices speak to Grumblejack! Grumblejack does not like voices in his head!

The yell is cut off by a guard knocking his club into the door.

    ----

Another guard calls in to Roland.

If that's true, hellspawn, then the inquisitor's will get the details out of you later!

The other guards outside chuckle nervously. You can all hear them. There seems to be six of them.

    -----

    Typhon

Perception Check Successful. They don't seem to be making any effort to keep themselves from being heard by you, they're just talking to each other.

    No Bluff Check needed. Roleplaying!

"Grumblejack! Listen to me. You're weak letting them lock you inside here. You need to escape! Break down the door, free yourself. You have friends nearby. Free them! They will lead you to safety!"

"Okay, we now have more information still. This 'Grumblejack' is clearly no friend of the arcane, and of a simple persuasion. If we can free ourselves, or otherwise ready our escape, I can most likely incite him to attempt to break free by posing as one of his jailors and taunting him with mental messages. From there, we can either use his assistance to escape, or break free in the distraction. We should make plan first, though; he will know my voice, so I will not be able to speak aloud in his presence if we attempt such a gambit."

"My friend, I speak the tongues of the noble races! Too long have I seen races such as the humans and the elves lord over us, races that consider themselves above us. It is we that are greater than they, however. And you... well, I confess that the divine has not steered my life. Perhaps that is why I am here. But with you as an ally, maybe this can change. Perhaps this is a sign. For now, though, do you have any insight into our situation, any divine powers that might avail us?"

Ruby looks bored, but nudges Zadok slightly, whispering into his ear.

"I'm really quite sorry about this, but I'm going to have to ask you not to resist. You look nice and strong, and if I know one thing about these guards. They'll want to keep you alive long enough to execute you. So what I want you to do, pet, is Sleep.

Ruby will use her Slumber hex on Zadok.

Zadok's eyes flare open briefly for a moment before he sags against his chains, completely asleep.

Ruby stiffles a giggle before setting a serious face and shouting to the guards.

"Hey! Guards! Come quick! I think he's dying! He's been hitting his head against the stone wall for the past 10 minutes, and just now he convulsed and he's gone limp!"

"You all squabble like children" Lexgud grumbled in common, having woken up from the commotion of the guards. Either the guards did not know, or care that he'd been sleeping, but the combination of the light, commotion and all the talking had woken him up. While not exactly ecstatic to be with a bunch of magic users (although the half-orc looked promising) perhaps their foul ways would be of use.

    For once.

"Have any of you pointy hats thought to check the chain for magic beside this glowing shit?"

Did not realize you were starting last night at like 1 am. Sorry about the delay. Should I roll for my next post, an attempt to break the chain, or do you do it?

"Voices in your head, eh Grumblejack? Perhaps you should see about that... It can't be good. Perhaps you are just cracking up, knowing that you're dead in days. Or maybe I'm just a guard, taunting you for a bit of sport. What does it matter to a great stupid beast like yourself? You can't break out. You can't escape. You and your fellow prisoners will die soon, and there's nothing you can do about it. You're pathetic, Grumblejack, and the Mitran Order has won. We win, and you foolish prisoners lose. Enjoy your death."

Marcinus looks at the hobgoblin as if he's stupid.

"A magic user needs to be able to make gestures to detect magic flowing around them. As you can see, most of us are tied up currently."

"Ahh, hobgoblin, you're awake. Excellent. We have use of someone who is capable with something not related to magic. I confess, I am a caster, but we need cleverness and strength here, and I feel that you can help with both. Have you heard our prior discussions, or do you need a refresher on the situation as far as we have discovered it? And, if I may, who are you?"
