Because it's an integral and vital part to the storyline of the franchise?

Be honest, who is playing those games for the current era backstory?

    Me?

My biggest complaint with the series is that Ubisoft gave in like a pussy to popular demand and killed off Desmond, just as he was becoming badass and meaningful.

I'm there to play assassin in cool time periods. I was always disinterested in the current day goings on. Tbh, even that wasn't enough to keep me engaged past AC4.

Agreed. Desmond / Abstergo story was never as interesting as the story or characters in the time period you're playing in.

Back when Ezio was the protagonist, the modern day and past sections at least matched up and were building up towards something. Nowadays there isn't much to look forward to in the present day. The sense of buildup isn't there. It's just "oh what's happened in the modern day after a year-long story blackout?"

The movie might be better off making some alterations to both the past and present aspects of the story. :/

I still wish we'd have gotten Desmond as an assassin in a modern-day city to top it off. It seemed to be where things were going.

In other news, a new trailer for Star Trek Beyond has been released, and to my mind it's an improvement over the previous one.

Modern day was always boring in comparison to the historical setting you were playing in, even in the original episodes.

Take out the Animus and the game still would of been good, the Animus and modern era has always been the least interesting part for me, I tried to skip through those parts as fast as I could even with the story behind it all.

Which is why you missed the massive amounts of hints and backstory hidden in the present day sections that made everything interesting and glued it together.

You did. It's called Watch Dogs.

Whatever. Go hang with your lame ass SpaceGodAIWhateverthefuck.

In other news, I saw Apocalypse. Was good, not great.

Didn't like Magneto being made to look like a chump. The QS scene felt forced (you loved it in the last one, here's another!) and oh god can Sansa please stay in GoT? I can't stand her as an actress...

Oh, I like the new Storm too (who's super hot too btw...)

Just got back from X-Men: Apocalypse.

    I liked it. I rate it 9/10.

Quicksilver had the best scene of the movie, which is not surprising.

I had doubts about Sophie Turner, but was pleasantly proven wrong with her performance.

I liked that parts of the movie took place in Poland.

    Overall, I recommend it.

Yeah I saw this the other day. Wasn't overly impressed, to be honest.

Solid 6/10 from me. Here's why:

It was both, at the same time, too long and felt rushed. Chalk that up to shitty editing.

Olivia Munn's character was pointless. In fact, all 4 horsemen seemed more a reason to have mutants fighting mutants than actually useful.

I loved the opening scene with the pyramid collapsing on Apocalypse.

Didn't like how Magneto fucked with the magnetosphere, killing thousands if not millions, and that was glossed over after Apocalypse's defeat and Xavier is all buddy-buddy with him.

Quiksilver was awesome. So 3 of my points go to the opening sequence, and the other 3 to Quiksilver.

Actually, gonna add another point for finally utilising Cyclops. 7/10, on reflection.

Saw Apocalypse, myself. Haven't seen any of the previous (2?) X-Men movies, went with friends.

Villain was the most cringe, overblown thing I have seen in superhero movies to date. Worst part of the movie and by far the majority of the faults with it.

Despite this, the film is carried by very good actors on lead roles, with the notable exception of Jean and, to a lesser extent, Scott's actors.

Yeah UK/Aus/Europe seem to get the big releases a week or so before the United States.

I think it has to do with building the hype. The US being the biggest market, if reviews roll in and word gets around through social media and such that the international market are enjoying the film, the US sales enjoy a serious bump.

Yeah. I have to admit, I do get a little confused/amused by the fact that these enormous Hollywood blockbusters wind up dropping a week, even two weeks in other parts of the world. Not that I'm complaining, mind.

That really depends on the studio, it often goes the other way around where Aus gets them a week late. From personal experience it's more often we get movies a week late than a week early.
