Yeah, the problem for me is that the functions of the watch are extremely limited and the main game itself doesn't have enough content to warrant me spending the money on it yet.

If all of those functions were part of the baseline game already, I'd be okay with spending to support. As is? All sorts of eh.

 

I'll buy the watch when it comes with a significant amount of PokeCoins (wait, does it already?) If they never do a deal like that I won't be buying the watch.

Servers crashed a few minutes after I put out an incense in my room I caught some trash pidgey or zubat, and that was it before the crash.

My best monsters are CP 130-150ish except a 177 Charmander. the gyms right around my house are all CP 240 at least for every position, some as high as 470ish... So I can't fight them to raise gym prestige even (the local gyms are all Team Instinct like myself)

I guess I need more Stardust and candies! I had about 60 mons and I got it down to like 30 by transferring all of the ones I had several of. I'm so glad I took Squirtle as my starter because the park I walk in every day is full of Charmanders. I saw a Bulbasaur while driving a few miles from home a few days ago, so I might walk 3-4 miles to get to that area to catch a bunch of stuff and make sure I have all three starters.

I can't help but imagine how disastrous it would be if the number of any species in a specific area were finite, respawning every day or even week.

Evolved my 250ish (iirc) Eevee into the BEST evolution (given only one 1st gen. Umbreon for life) and she's like 700 too! Wtf!

 

Spent the last two hours at lured spots with random people that live in my area, was pretty fun.

At least 10-15 people in my immediate area all wandering in and out.

My team got huge upgrades- I hatched an Eevee, and when you hatch a pokemon it also comes with a bunch of candies, which was enough (with the candies I already had) to evolve two Eevees.



Edit: Oliver Kingston- If you weren't aware, everyone sees the same pokemon in the same place at any given time. However, everyone is also able to catch that pokemon- its not exclusive to the first person who catches it. This definitely makes playing in groups way more fun, and you'll see huge gatherings around Lure'd pokespots, for example.

 

omg, I saw a scyther silhouette earlier, but the directional hunting BS that makes no sense, I just lost it...

Been having a blast but I ran out of pokeballs so I think tomorrow I'm just going to hangout at the mall that has 4 spots walking to and from to build my bag back up.

 

My bag is full.. 250 poke balls and like 70 of each potion and revive...

 

Went out for some night time adventuring, caught an Ivysaur and 2xScyther (in a small protected wildlife reserve, ironically. That make me a poacher...?). Buzzed, I decided to stomp a gym...

Get to the last pokemon, servers apparently crashed because I get to the last pokemon and It can't be killed at 1hp...

Figured servers must have crashed later when I got the infinite pokeball loading emblem of doom.

Fml.

Somehow I know this is America's fault...

 

This is a common bug. Just keep dodging until it stops attacking- if it ever stops, it counts it as your win, even if it doesnt faint.

 

Went out, captured three of the villages five gyms, and caught a bunch of useless dross. Hatched an egg into a pikachu, and another into a Hitmonchan. Might also have hatched a weedle or something else like that. Evolved a bunch of things, and hit every pokestop I could see several times.

I would definitely recommend getting an external battery pack thingy. I ordered one yesterday from Amazon, and I think I must've been out for about four hours today, and was on basically all the time.

I was going to capture the fourth gym, which is round the back of a nearby church (actually through the graveyard. But their gates are always open, and there is normally a light on)... But there was a funeral going on. I might end up going back later though.

There's at least two other Zapbros around though, and as long as we don't fill gyms with useless crap, I think we can hold them - the red gyms I captured today had only one semi-decent thing in (Ratata 66, Koffing 101, Scyther 200), but Pidgeot450 has a much faster attack, and swept them all anyway.

It is annoying, because I don't want to put this one on a gym. It's currently my highest CP, and is more useful for cleaning gyms out than holding them would be. So I'll have an A team for captures, and a B team for holding.

Does anyone else think we're going to see almost a reversal of normal game teams?
I mean - to level anything up, you have to capture and sacrifice a bunch of the same line. That means it isn't hard to get a Pidgeot (62 candies, or 16 pidgeys), or a Raticate (25 candies, or 7 Ratata), as the fuel is really common. But anything rarer is going to be really fucking irritating to level to be useful, and I haven't heard anything about being able to purchase candies themselves. So the higher level teams will just be really common pokes, but at a massively high level.

 

Eggs. That's how you level up rare shit. It means you're kind of limited in what you level based on what you hatch, but sometimes you get this:



Hatched my lil sea ferry from a 10k egg, along with a whole bunch of candy.

I caught that Electabuzz, which would probably be my most OP pokemon right now (gyms full of flyers in my area; Pidgeot, Fearow, Dodrio, Golbat, Scyther etc) if I could level it, but given its rarity, its candies are super hard to come by.

I do think it's kinda cool though. I don't think we'll be seeing starter max evolutions, or Dragonite for a loooong time...

Then again, I just caught an Arcanine in the wild, me being at level 15 now. Maybe we'll start seeing rarer pokemon as we level.

I just hope the 5 legends are unobtainable...

Holding gyms gives the gold coins to buy items, right?

 

Each gym you have a pokemon in gives you 10G and 500 dust every 21 hours (minimum. You can trigger it at any point after that, and it isn't on auto), although this caps at 10 gyms (100G, 5000 dust).

Also, if you attack a gym already owned by your team, you get EXP. So it's another way of levelling up.

Also, just found out that one of the people I talked into downloading this has a pokestop on their kitchen window. They can access it from anywhere in the house. And they only have to go ten meters down the road to hit the gym...

 

Lol, I've a route I've been driving around within a 1km radius that has 11 stops, no down time, that's next to a school, so there's always lures up. Route probably takes 6-7 minutes, so I'm never waiting for resets...

The route also has a lake I can park at and walk around to hatch eggs and catch Omanyte/Kabuto.

Yep. I've MMO'd real life. Get on my level.

 

Went to Target to go shopping.

There's a cluster of Pokestops across the street from the store, and some folks are all hanging out using Lures to mass gather pokemon. Hung out with them a bit.

This game is so cool.

I went to Gulfstream Park today (high end restaraunts/stores surrounding a Casino and Racetrack). Place had super dense pokestops, which was nice. Caught 57 pokemon in a 3 hour span, and ran into like 15 other people playing, including a security guard who couldn't stop laughing at him.

Best catches were a scyther, a dratini, 2 bulbasaurs, and 5 eevees.
