Interesting. Ironically, the amount of flamestrikes and fireland's portals in the average mage deck is likely to decrease.

This seems like it's a sort of test run for a competitive mode. Seems like it could be fun, depending on the specifics of how the whole thing runs.

Well I suppose for all those that have gold to spare would at least play a game of this. But the rewards certainly don't feel worth it, not when I'm paying a thousand gold for what is basically ranked. Everyone will build aggro and every game will be a fifty-fifty depending on who lands the sticky minions first.

If the rewards are scaled to your wins it might be worth it, but to dump 1k gold and potentially get nothing... sounds shitty.

So at 5 wins you break even.

Doesn't seem worth it for people who don't have tons of gold stacked up.

Good thing I've been stockpiling by playing arena for so long! :D

Looks interesting. Numbers can always be adjusted in the end, though I'm doubtful they actually will. They've put some thought into what's worth "giving" away vs. what they're getting out of it, profit-wise.

I'd advise against spending your gold on it. At least wait until blizzcon where I'm pretty sure they'll announce a new expansion.

They're obviously trying to drain the gold a bit from the more active players so that they might need to buy packs in the next expansion instead of just dumping a huge amount of saved gold on it.

Definitely not for me, but it's probably quite fun for the more competitive people. Going to enjoy watching some of the streamers try it.

Blizzard have announce a competition of sorts for Blizcon. You choose one of the 16 people who will be playing as your champion, and receive 1 free GT pack, and can win 5 more depending on how your champion performs.

Does anybody know anything about the players who are competing, and who is the favorite, or expected to do well, as I've never paid attention to the pro scene in Hearthstone?

Go with ThijsNL, he's the absolute favorite to win.

Other considerations: Handsomeguy, DrHippi, Amnesiac. Hm.. think that might be it.

The qualifiers for Blizzcon were run at a time when there was a lot of... Well. Random stupid bullshit. Added on to a game that's already not quite "competitive" in nature, a lot of no name players managed to make it in there. ThijsNL is a very dedicated streamer who's already won nearly 100k in prize money, so you're not likely to go wrong with picking him.

These quests seem like a lot harder to gain gold with, compared to the original ones. Thoughts?

It doesn't seem hard at all. The quests all tell you to play the cards, not to win with the deck. It's not exactly hard to make a deck of 20 low cost battlecry minions, for example, and just dump them all in a game. Maybe the last quest would be the most difficult, if only because games generally end before turn 8 - 9 anyways. But aside from that, all of these quests seem very much manageable.

None of those new quests compare to the difficulty of "Win Three Games as Priest," so I think we're all good.

Haha, I've got my Nzoth priest deck for that one.

I guess it's easy to build decks around these quests, but I never do that. I have my few constructed decks that I play, and other than that it's arena.
