So you're picking Poplio so you stay the alpha. I get it.

Only if Poplio happens to be fighting type. Which, for the record, I doubt.

    Starter evolutions.

Damn it, the leaks were real. The fire starter is pretty dank. The grass one seems like the most popular one, but I think the final evo is really creepy. The way the wings try to be hands, no thanks. I might have to start with the water one, but it looks annoyingly supportive.

Also holy shit Red. Probably no battle mansion/whatever, but could have some fun postgame fights.

Probably going to stick with Grass Owl after that vid but the other stuff was nice, and Red looks better than I might have expected before this. Really glad to see him and Blue given how much Kanto hype SUMO has been bringing.

Don't the secondary types throw away the rock-paper-scissors triangle with Ghost being regularly effective against Fairy? Actually, Fairy isn't very effective against Fire types, so really only the Fire starter completely trounces the Grass one.

Yep, Grass Owl wins for me. Gonna have to think of a decent nickname that doesn't suck as much as its original name.

Building the Pokemon League being confirmed has me hyped. It'd be nice if your character is actively involved in it.

I have no problems with any of these evos, though I'm still all about dat dapperowl. I like all the Tapus and I'm probably gonna name one after each of the four giants from Majora's Mask.

Confirmed protoleague is all kinds of awesome, I'm definitely with Seratin in hoping that we have a hand in that

I'll be soft resetting for a shiny Rowlet come November 18th. That thing is badass. I'm loving that it's part ghost.

Best of luck on your Rowlett. I'll probably try and chain fish up a Wishiwashi as soon I find out where I can get them, hopefully the mechanic won't be changed and suction cups/good rod will work.

Oh, and for those who don't know, you can pre-order and download most of the game from the e-shop now. No 'bonuses' so far as I know - so pay early if you like and get it out of the way.

probably easier to just put homebrew on your 3ds (which is trivial) and use PCHex++ to edit your starter.

Anyways I'm not super enamored with Sun and Moon. I really hate to use this word because I feel like an asshole when I use it, but it just feels really... childlike?

I mean I get that it's a series for literal children, but still. I'm not a fan of the gimmicky gym replacements at all. I also do not love the setting. Hawaii is boring.

That's all subjective though and I'm 100% sure it'll be a good game. I just don't, personally, think I'll like it as much.

Kanto Post game is being heavily hinted at, calling it now.

Red and Blue, all Kanto based Alola forms and the most recent trailer in which the irl child character leaves Hawaii and heads back to Japan.

So uh... Is it common that a pokemon's moves actively help an opponent? In what possible scenario would you want your water type starter to heal the burn of an opponent you're trying to kill? I don't think I've ever seen a pokemon move that helps the opponent like that...

But then again the water starter is completely pants on head retarded this gen, so for the first time in the history of pokemon I'll be going grass starter if I get this game.

Mostly for competitive battling. There are items that you can give your Pokemon that will automatically burn them going into battle. This can allow you take to advantage of a move or ability your Pokemon has that gets powered up if you have a status problem. It means that you hurt your Pokemon slightly but can receive a big advantage in power.

But if you can heal your opponent's Pokemon while still causing damage it's a big change up to the competitive scene.

Another example would be if you're in a double battle and your partner gets burned. If you know it can resist the damage from the move and pick up a status heal to boot it's worth it.
