It seems to work the same, though I haven't used mine. They might have turned down the EXP sidelined Pokemon get.

In other news, I'm in Hau'oli City. I'm currently trying to find a Pikachu. It is slow work, but I won’t settle for a Pichu. I don’t have time for that shit. I want a surfing Raichu and that’s final.

    Now just to activate a S.O.S battle. I can’t find Pikachu any other way apparently. Even then, Pikachu’s S.O.S encounter rate is 5%. ;_;

So, anyone know if one can find Larvitar in the wild in these games? And if so, in which version? I don't want to live in a world where my team can't have a Tyranitar.

    Yeah, same. It's really draining.

Sorry, Lavitar isn't catchable in the wild.

Okay, just a little note about the Rotom guiding: The hand-holding is probably going to seem way over the top, but as someone who's watched his mother struggle to play through Pokemon X for months, this thing is going to be amazing for some people.

She's only hit the fourth badge, I think, and that's with a walkthrough open. I'm thinking of just giving her Sun/Moon to start over with after seeing how the game helps progression.

Just cause I'm seeing a lot of people really hate on the guidance and help the game gives you.

Not catchable no, but Bagon is catchable on the first island as well as Salamence at level 9-14. Which is hilarious.

That's an admirable goal to have - I've got my mum into Pokemon too. But it's just incredible that they're still forcing everyone through it on the same level, especially when they're so aware that so much of their audience is older fans who've played every other game they've put out for the last two decades.

We really just need the best of both worlds here - some kind of 'yes I've played this game before thanks' option.

Meanwhile, I just found a Pichu on good ol route 1.

I'm following along with a route guide on Serebii so I can catch everything (I also miss the Pkmn locater thing), anyone know what Slot 1, Slot 2, SOS are?

    http://serebii.net/pokearth/alola/route1.shtml

Also, having the choice to add a caught PKMN to your team when you're at 6 is a game changer.

S.O.S Pokemon are Pokemon who are summoned by injured wild Pokemon. While I haven't seen it, if a wild Pokemon's health is low enough, they may call a Pokemon friend and turn the battle into a double battle. You can kill one, and then the now single Pokemon may call another Pokemon.

Or so the internet tells me.

Thanks, still want to know what Slot 1, Slot 2, Slot 7, etc are.

Also, Alolan homecooking delicacy involves roasted Slowpoke tails.

I don't know if I'm okay with this

Hm, I'm a few hours in and not sure why they bothered attaching battling to the new Pokemon Snap game...

(60k points so far, 40k for the next upgrade!)

You haven't seen it? I've run into it a ton of times. Including a fight against a Zubat where I fainted the responding pokemon 6 times. 7 Zubats. One fight. It was annoying.

I haven't really been weakening wild Pokemon because everything I want to catch isn't around yet. When I did try to summon an S.O.S Pikachu, I couldn't make it work. I had to settle for a Pichu. :(

I was trying to catch a Bonsly for so long that he actually summoned a Happiny that I caught instead.

It's probably because most of the time on those I'm not trying to weaken them. I'm just leaving my weakest Pokemon up front so it just can't kill the wild Pokemon in one hit.

As Day Two of Pokemon Moon comes to a close, I am officially…

    *drumroll*

    Leaving Island One! <_<

    Yeah, I'm slow.

Also had my first taste of an S.O.S battle. I encountered a rock puppy and as I was weakening her, she called for aid! But nobody came. It broke my heart. :(

I will be her friend instead. I named her Rhaella.
