That's a lazy ass voiceover trailer if ever there was one. Lazier even then the one with the various faces in the House of Black and White.

I was planning on having a smooth sail through early spring: catch the back (better) end of Suits S6, then Homeland and The Good Fight to carry me into April when GoT S7 would begin. At least, that was the plan until a few weeks ago, because, conditioned to expect GoT in early spring, I never checked the premiere date and remained ignorant of the fact that S7 would not arrive until July.

I am not ashamed to say that I wait for GoT more than any movie since I discovered it. This show taught me the meaning of the oft repeated phrase "I envy those who haven't seen it yet, because they get to watch for the first time."

I have the Polish publication of the first two books, but everyone knows that no translation will ever perfectly adapt the spirit of the original, so more and more I keep thinking, maybe I should just get myself the English version.

Sigh. Enough of this self-pity party.

Well, it's a good show, I'll give you that. I own the first book in Polish as well, but I have yet to read more than a chapter.

I read the prologue and I think up to Catelyn's first chapter...? Not sure. The Polish version didn't hook me at all. I can't say how much of the apathy is just the translation and how much is the actual book.

If you do decide to get the English version, get the leather bound box set. The leather binding is beautiful and it smells great too. The books themselves are kinda small in size as is the font, but it shouldn't pose too much of a problem. They basically look like a nerds bible. The set goes for about $40 on Amazon and it's worth the money IMO.

The show is doing its best to really capture the spirit of the books.

    You serious?

In what way do they really understand the Books? The part where they despise Stannis and think Renly would have been a great king? Act like the Starks are always political idiots while Ramsay can kill a bunch of Ironborn soldiers while shirtless? Turning the High Sparrow into some lame Modern Religious Fundamentalist and Loras into a gay stereotype? Have Cersei get away with everything connected to blowing up the Great Sept and spend way too much time obsessing over how Awesome and Perfect Tyrion is? Or mayhaps it was literally everything connected to the Dornish or Jorah "I'm an significantly older slaver creeping on a teenage girl" Mormont?

No, please. Tell me how you think 'the show is doing its best to really capture the spirit of the books.' I'm kind of curious.

Absolutely none. The Lannister twins's storyline will conclude in Kings Landing (against Dany's dragonfire/Cercei burning city as all is lost and Jaime strangling her as per the Valonqor prophecy).

And besides, that just makes no sense. The entire point of the Lannisters is that great evil can comes from very human, very relatable reasons - love and pride, bitterness and hatred. And nothing about that involves joining up with implacable eldrich abominations with which there is no reasoning anyway.

Do people really hate the Lannisters so much that they need them to literally join Satan, so as to vindicate their own dislike?

I haven't read the books and Cercei has shown in past episodes that she is willing to make deals with the wrong sort. I just thought that last scene in the trailer looked like it was teasing a connection between her and the White Walkers.

I think it just shows, that winter will be in full swing and the cold will at least reach as far as King's Landing with all its implications, namely food shortage, people dying of exposure, panic and so on.

What better place to launch a Targaryen re-invasion than their original seat?
