DF Timeline?
Is it ever anything ever stated, or something inferred, from which we can tell when the Dresden Files takes place? I've found a basic timeline of events in regards to characters online, but only in relation to the events of the book, not any actual dates. Storm Front was released in 2000, but was it actually set then...? Help please.

Magical Foci Masterlist
Throughout the Dresden Files, Dresden has used and upgraded many different items as magical foci and tools. My idea is to make a list of these things, by book, to make it easier for DLP members planning to write a DF fanfic. Basic format should include the name of the book, the type of foci or tool, and the canon description of said item. Series Mainstays, (items used throughout the series, unless broken, replaced, or upgraded - will make note of upgrade in each novel). Staff - A...

Is Hell Evil? God Pwnsome?
Nuhuh's Note: I am cleaning up the 'DF fanfic ideas' thread, which has suffered two massive derails. The thread title is my best approximation of what everyone was fighting about. I am sure there is a better title out there. PM it to me and I will change it. Other than that, any discussions pertaining to...w.e the fuck you lot were fighting over go in here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------...

Ghost Story's kindle price
Oh you've gotta be fucking kidding me. Do they actually expect us to pay these bullshit prices? It's more expensive than the damn hardcover edition! Edit: Also just discovered that the release date was bumped back to July, which I had been unaware of. That's a serious buzzkill.

Harry's Prices
I'm writing a fic and I need to know Harry's prices per hour when it comes to locating people. I was wondering if there was any point in the story that Harry mentioned his standard prices. Authors seem to avoid that so I doubt it but if you know any instance I'd appreciate it. Would you say Harry charges as much as the average private eye, or less? In the earlier books we get the impression that he charges less but idunknow.

Bringin' It back
So according to the recent posts in WoG, Jim planted elements and plot points in the early books that we won't see the payoff of for many books yet. That got me thinking: what elements of the early (ie, first two or three) books do we want to see recur? Especially since it's accepted around here that the first few books weren't particularly strong. Jim says we'll (maybe) get to see Santa Claus at some point. But what else would you like to see again? Three-Eye? Tera West? Chauncey?...

Ghost Story chapters
Seems that Butcher read the first four chapters of GS in some dinner event. The admin(or whatever) of Butchers official forums is going to try and post them online to promote Side Jobs. So we may learn something interesting a lot sooner than anticipated. Here is the post where this is talked about: http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,21636.0.html Just so you are all prepared. :)

Why Is This Good?
*Rant Ahead* Okay folks, I've recently begun reading this series in earnest and just finished up the second book. However, I find myself asking, "why does DLP love this series so much?" It doesn't mesh with me. Honestly, I don't like it so far. The plots of the first two books really do remind me of a sort of Scooby Doo mystery only with real magic and monsters and shit. I had the villain pegged in book 1 almost from the beginning. I mean, what can you expect when you're presented...

Darkhallow
I just had a few questions about the darkhallow, because I'm not sure if I just missed the answers, or they weren't specified. 1) Can the Darkhallow be performed more than once? For example, it acting like a stone table for the user. 2) Would the user of the Darkhallow get a weakness like the Fae and iron after performing it? 3) Would the user be plagued by any of the rules or restrictions in place for higher powered beings, even if the user is mortal? 4) If the user was a wizard, and...

Even Hand
So, a new(?) Dresden short was released in this collection http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Stormy-Knights-P-Elrod/dp/0312598343/ref=pd_sim_b_52 on July 20th, titled "Even Hand". It's set from the perspective of Marcone. Surprisingly, I really liked this one. While not too much is learned here, we do get the idea of how Marcone feels towards Dresden, which is a major change from what went on in "Changes". Thoughts?

Question about Outsiders
I haven't read the books in a while and don't have enough free time to re-read all of them, so I have a question. Do the books ever explicitly say anything about how the Outsiders came to be in the outside? I remember something about the White God creating an army of archangels to go to war against them, but I'm not sure if that's dresdenverse-canon or Shezzaverse-canon. If this was addressed in the books, sorry for the stupid question.

Demonreach
During my current bout of insomnia I got the idea to go check out the Jim Butcher spoiler forums and see what discussions were going on. I found this. Specifically, I found the idea that the well of dark energy that is the source of Demonreach might possibly be something trapped underneath Lake Michigan, and that the island is its attempt to push through the insulation provided by a couple million gallons of water. Also, we know that Chicago has seen an unreasonably large amount of activity...

Dresden and Murphy Soul Gaze
Am I just forgetting things or have these two never soulgazed? I remember Harry looked at Murphy with his Wizard Sight in the third book, but I don't think that counts as a soul gaze. It's just kind of odd, given their relationship, that it never happened. Sure, they probably wouldn't learn anything new, but you'd think they'd stare at each other in the eye long enough for it to happen at some point.
