    Has fanfiction stopped you from reading books?

I'm not against fanfiction, of course (I am on this site) but I think I would go crazy if I completely supplanted "regular" books with only fanfiction.     So, I am curious, has anyone ever read a good/decent story where the cast of fandom X is reading their own books/fanfics or whatever? I know there are tons in the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson fandoms, where the cast is locked in a room by some stupid entity, tossed the books and they read it with clichéd, cheesy and mostly dumb reactions to what they are reading.     What happens at your drawing board?

    I have never written anything that would be considered substantial before. The longest piece of writing I've ever written was 8000w. I have attempted longer pieces but I find it always falls apart. I do not know how to plan a piece of writing. I can write shorts, I'm fairly good at shorts but anything long flops like Jigokuno.
