Ugh. Vista's being a bitch and I can't launch Microsoft Excel anymore. When I click the exe I get: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel.

As you guys should know I'm a dumbass and have no clue what the hell that means.

    Help?

I'm not entirely sure... but are you clicking on a shortcut? If so, did you by any chance happen to move your Microsoft Office file from it's previous location? I don't know why you would do that, but meh, that's what it sounds like to me.

Nope. I never even touched the file. Its in the same exact place. o_O

Its in the Microsoft Office 12 folder and every other program (word, powerpoint, etc.) launches perfectly yet Excel says that association nonsense.

If you are really clicking on a .exe that makes no sense at all, sounds like what Sree said, and it's really a shortcut.

If you're clicking on a spreadsheet file (not with a .exe file name) you probably somehow got Excel from being the default program for that file extension. To fix: right click > open with > choose default program > click on Excel then always use to open this type of file, then okay/save/whatever should work fine.

Nope tried that. Its definitely the .exe It won't launch. And it keeps giving that same exact error. >_>

Why did this have to happen now of all times?

It gives me either the error I said before or the "It's not a valid Win32 application error." I'm not sure if its because my APPLocale settings are Japanese (which is weird because it never made a difference before) or what.

I have no idea at all why you are clicking on the .exe file. That should be safely stocked away in your /:C Folder.

Anyway, look up excel in your C folder and click the .exe there. That should remedy the situation. Or you can just click on a saved excel file.

    That's what I did...

    File Location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Excel.exe

Even when I use the shortcut in the folder I get the application error when I click that exe I get: C:\ProgramFiles\MicrosoftOffice\Office12\Excel.Exe is not a valid Win32 application.

Edit: If it makes any difference for some reason Windows isn't recognizing the excel Icon either despite the fact that it shows up on the support files.

Try uninstalling it and then re-installing. Or if it doesn't uninstall (shows error) then try repairing.
