LOL - so, Taure's summary of this sounded pretty interesting. But he was also spot on about it not being executed terribly well.

The war wasn't going well - in part because AU!Neville appeared to be about as incompetent at fighting it as canon!Harry was - and AU!Harry said 'fuck it' and bailed on the Order to fight for the other side and therefore save his own skin. He appears to be blaming Dumbledore for this, since if Dumbledore hadn't played his cards so close to his chest then Harry wouldn't have had to betray them, see? If only Harry had known that Dumbledore had a plan that took into account all the bullshit that Harry was fed up with...

Then we get this:

I gotta admit, I snickered. "The Arch-Traitor" really? I feel like this first chapter is an exercise in the author trying too hard to sell us on their AU!background.

Main issue I have so far though, apart from a mediocre presentation, is that I don't like this Harry. He really is a traitor and he didn't have anything more than self-serving reasons for it from what I can tell (skimming parts of Chapter 1).

I'm going to keep reading and I'll come back and edit this response with a rating if I make it past the first few chapters. I don't feel like it's early enough to really rate yet but my gut says 3/5.

Edit: Yeah, 3/5 at best. I can see this being in almost recommended for a fairly original idea but the execution is just awful and this is definitely a Harry-in-name-only character for me too. Some of it is helped by the fact that this Harry is really 22 or so and therefore might love his independence, but something about the whole thing still screams off.

The trial (for casting the Patronus in front of Dudley) was ridiculously handled. Harry, a teenager, was allowed to more or less control the floor as a smartass with Fudge painted as a blustering idiot. That sort of thing can be satisfying but it has to be set up and this wasn't.

Still it's a neat idea and I'm going to finish reading to see where the author takes it, so, yeah. 3/5

AN: Hey up all, so I'm sure some have realised that this story has not been updated in a while. I'll be honest, I have been wracking my brain and trying to write the next chapter for the last few months, but have only made it halfway as I keep giving up and writing other things. The reason for this being that I just no longer have the passion for this story that I once had, nor do I have any real will to continue writing.

In fact after reading some reviews, some of which were critical, not that I have a problem with that, so long as they are polite. Though there were some on a thread on a different site that really pissed me off, partly because they were not constructive, but instead just bitchy.

That said I reread the story myself and found that I didn't like it, and in some ways agreed with what the critics were saying about Harry's character, his decision and the way some of the scenes were handled.

It's for that reason that I've decided to discontinue the story and put it up for adoption. The reason being that I never like it when authors just leave their story hanging, and leave people expecting another chapter only for nothing to come. Hence why I am leaving this abandonment note/ adoption offer.

If anyone wants to take it up please do.

That said I have discontinued stories before then taken them up again at a later time, but I am not sure at the moment. Let's just say for now I am in the mind to discontinue the story, but could potentially come back to it, but am not confident enough on that to just put it on Hiatus.

Plus I have been nursing another Harry Potter idea, a Harry has a brother story, only with a very different, and dare I say it, unique spin to it, that I at least haven't seen before. I've already started planning it, and will likely start writing it soon. Though I do have other stories that I have already committed too, so my attention will be split.

That said though, yeah, sorry if this disappoints people, but I just feel that if I do try to force myself to continue writing a story I am not passionate about or interested in, it will turn out mediocre and disappointing at best, and it will probably put me off the entire fandom. Though that said apparently the 'execution' of my story and my own 'technical writing prowess' is already terrible.

I know it is annoying when authors do this, but what can I say, sometimes you have to cut your losses and start again. On top of which I know it is annoying when authors leave you hanging, hence the note.

So if anyone wants to adopt the story, PM me, and then you're more than welcome to take it over. I will put an update on the story if it is taken up. If not then I will just leave the story how it is in case anyone wants to reread or anything.

Thanks a lot for reading, but I just feel it would be better for me to put my time towards writing stories I enjoy writing, than forcing myself to write one I'm not passionate about.
