IIRC Dumbledore said that the wards stayed in place but indicated that all of the Longbottoms had been killed.

 

They said that Neville was the boy-who-lived-and-is-hyphenated but he was never attacked by Voldemort. On the other hand, he got pwned by the diary at some point after he disappeared, so That Fucker is Riddle in Neville's body.

 

According to what I've led you to believe so far:

No boy-who-lived, no killing curse survivors. No defeat of Voldemort. Harry and Sirius died Halloween 1981, and Voldemort kept going after the in-hiding Longbottoms. Eventually leading to Frank confirming rumors of the prophecy in early summer of 1987. Neville receives presents as the chosen one, including some books that he carries everywhere. March 21, 1988 Neville disappears without any sign of how the wards were breached. About a month later, Alice commits suicide. Frank goes a bit nutty at losing son and wife. David Monroe has been "trying to heal" Frank.

I'm going off the top of my head here, so I could be off a little.

I've seen this opinion repeated a few times in this thread. In CoS, Riddle wasn't aiming to running around in Ginny's body. He was sucking up her life force/magic/soul/whatever to solidify his own body.

Why are people claiming that Riddle is running around in Neville's body?

Neville simply supplied the magic for Riddle's Horcrux to take corporeal form.

I hope we get some answers as to why That Fucker is against Voldemort.

 

I'm curious as to whether Neville is dead or Tom is keeping him comatose and has enough energy to make himself corporeal.

That Fucker is against Voldemort for the simple reason that neither is willing to share power. *starts banging head into desk again* The reason that Harry said that Neville isn't coming back is because he knows what the younger Riddle looked like before he went snake. He extrapolated from all the stories and realized that the most likely scenario is that Neville was sent the diary and died to bring Riddle to life. Or Riddle possessed Neville's body so that he could cash in on the fame. Either story works.

As to why he would be against him... Korisovra, consider, That Horcrux was likely the first one. It has an impression of Tom Riddle BEFORE he made more than one of them... and thus before he went batshit insane.

It's possible that Tom is against Voldemort not just because he won't share power... but because he's seen what Voldemort became... a monster. Imagine you're this younger, driven, idealistic, not insane, self, and you see what you become decades later... and you're disgusted by it.

That'd be one reason he could have for trying to bring Voldemort down.

And if he did, think about it... being the one person in the world that brought down the dark lord... and with Tom Riddle's acumen he'd be able to turn that to his advantage.

That was where I went initially, as well, Garrett. Then I sat back and thought about it, and realized that with Riddle's life, he would *NEVER* submit to anyone, his older self included. He might not agree with his older self's actions, but he sees the undeniable effect they have on the Wizarding world. Riddle was driven by hate and fear, Voldemort is driven by the same. Unless Riddle saw a competent shrink, he's still the insecure little girl that we all know and scoff at. And don't forget......Voldemort or Riddle are keeping a Basilisk behind the manor in Little Hangleton. That oughta be fun for someone LOL

So the fucker is riddle, I think the only reason riddle wants to bring down voldermort becuase he doesn't want to share power, I guess that Nerville didn't have that much magic in him when he was 7, maybe his magic wasn't fully developed yet, which is why tom is possessing nerville body, mabe tom did't get enough power form nerville to become corpereal form, so maybe his residing in nerville body for that purpose.

I can't really agree with that; we already saw what young Tom was like as a student in CoS. If he's willing to attack innocents because of their blood-status at that age, he's already Voldemort in everything but name.
