In that vein, I started sorting through my old copy of the archive over the summer to figure out which fics were complete. Haven't finished yet, but I'm probably about halfway through now.

On topic, while I do agree with the idea of cleaning up ff.net, I really wouldn't trust anyone to do it. Everyone has different standards, and one man's MA may be another M or even T. Hell, I've seen slashfics rated K+. Also, even though Lord Kelvin says that people have to approve of each fic before it is reported (and Pers made a good point: he makes no mention of whether that feature will be permanent or not), it would be very easy to just hit "select all" and report everything that the bot finds.

So I still say no to this idea.

 

This list is a decent start. It should be current as of a year ago.

 

Just a quick necro update on the issue.

I rarely use the abuse button, thus I noticed the new abuse form only yesterday. I was astonished to notice they added a captcha. Apparently ff.net staff didn't like being flooded with abuse messages...

Lord Kelvin stated it wasn't directed at him. Though as image verification is only required for abuse but not reviews, it's obviously in answer to his bot and not spam bots in general.

Whether the ff.net staff thwarted RedBootton because it caused additional workload or because they had moral concerns or simply because someone didn't like Lord Kelvin doesn't matter - the issue is solved.

 

Well, that's a kick in the crotch for his 'holier than thou' superiority complex, isn't it?

 

I fear this might actually be a boost to his ego in the "I'm so good they changed it" vein of thought.
