I apologize if this sounds whiny, but why is this so much of an argument?
Yes, at first it was funny to hear these arguments coming from Gio. However, I see no need to be nasty over what is essentially just some random kink. Yes, it is incredibly common. Yes, it is annoying when some stupid amateur doesn't label it AT ALL. But, in the end, how is it so much worse than my thing for BDSM and bloodplay, or DGoC's enjoyment of Harry/Lily?
Yes, there are disagreements, which is normal. But why do they have to turn into huge fights and rants?

I'm with you there. Only reason I jumped was coz it was full of arguements. I'm on the debate team so no need to explain why I enjoy a good arguement every now and then.

And IndoGhost, you definitely don't want to know what blood play is if you don't know what it is.

    ROFL about the blood-play.

Yeah sorry if I came off as a bit harsh, its midterms/finals week for me and today I had to write a 1500 word English essay in under 90 minutes... I managed it (barely)... But I am just a bit stressed out (I have AP Microecon and Calc tommorrow).

My essay was an examination of the dynamics of betrayal in Oedipus Rex, using Dante's Inferno, The 1 scene play Catastrophe, the novel A Confederacy of Dunces, and the film Proof...

10 paragraphs of pure, undiluted, argument... It will probably get a D or a C; just like every other essay I have ever written for that class *grumbles*

Anyways, back on topic; I too am in favor of Harry/Draco slash, provided it is well written and not some teenaged girls sex fantasy. Sadly thats all the pairing seems to be made of these days, so I have just given up on reading it... I don't have the time or the energy to sift through a pairing where quite literally 99.9999999% of the stories are absolute crap... Its almost as bad as if not worse than Harry/Ginny when you consider its support base in the fandom.

    Ohhhh, whats wrong with that?
Btw - has anyone noticed blood seems to taste salty? That's always confused me, think it has to do with the abundance of water in us or what?

It's not just about the amount of water in our bodies... Its about the Sodium content of said water. You would be suprised about just how much of that shit we have floating around in us.

*shrug* Ever since Michael Jackson got off, I've just kinda become numb to suprise. Given the amount of salt we digest I'm not to suprised, but I thought we ... er.. excreted? it. Couldn't understand how it got in our blood...

Another note, I haven't been able to grasp the phobia 'round blood? I mean... blood is a liquid, it reminds me of someone screaming at water... :?:

    *shrug*

Actually your cells need Sodium to maintain the electrical charge of some of their parts... For instance the Sodium/Potassium ion pump which helps maintain the ion gradient inside the cell.

    Err... *backs away slowly*

    Fucking AP Bio

Don't worry, I knew that too. *coughs* It's not bad to know stuff like that. I hope... because if it were, I would have to read a whole lot less.

I think that behind the fighting some sort of physical attraction might be possible. You don't have to like someone's personality to be physically attracted to them. And in the sixth book Harry was obsessed with Draco. So if you put them in a position where they had to form some sort of working relationship, theoretically a realtionship might be possible. Now, maybe that really isn't a whole lot of backing for a pairing, but there are definitly pairings out there with less (I believe H/G was mentioned, and, personally, I'm leaning towards the love potion theory). Of course, keep in mind that I'm somewhat biased in the fact that I read (and write) HD fics (I like slash, femmeslash, and het). I'm a bit out of place on this site in that respect, actually, but that's besides the point.

I'm already 'out' now as an omnivore wordslut who'll read just about anything... So... Could you please give me a few links to 'well-written' H/D? The only one I've seen that I could read without flinching too much was Dragongirl16's Faith and regardless of how much I enjoyed some parts of that I honestly found it to be more than a tad under-cooked. Great concepts IMHO especially given as to how it was written ahead of the Manipulative! Dumbledore era of fanfiction and was actually visionary in that sense.

But honestly I found the suddeness of the complete betrayl of Harry to be stunning, like a badly tuned Azkaban story, the actions of the Slytherins suddenly being the good guys unbelivable, Snape and Malfoy Sr... 'nuff said... If she had bothered to build things slightly more and perhaps explain how suddenly everyone in the Wizarding world was homosexual.. I might have liked it more.

That's the only H+D I've seen that I liked. Granted I don't usually go asking for it or looking for it... I dismiss out of hand the melodramatic stories so...

    What do YOU consider well-written?
