    Title: A Child of Time
    Author: Star Mage 1
    Rating: T
    Genre: Crossover/SciFi
    DLP Category: The Alternate's
    Pairing: None
    Status: Work in Progress
Summary: The Dursley's abandoned Harry after finding him on their doorstep because of a strange transformation he goes through. Crossover with Doctor Who challenge
    Link: A Child of Time

This was the first Doctor Who Crossover I had seen so I gave it a try.
It is set after the third season of the new series. The author doesn't explain elements from Doctor Who so you need to be familiar with the storyline.

The beginning is unoriginal but it picks up rather quickly, enjoy.

I'd give it a shot, but I can't stand crossovers where I actually need to know the other material. Especially when I don't know the other material.

    :(

3/5. You will only like it if you are a DW fan.

Speaking from the perspective of a Doctor Who fan; NO! NO! The first chapter alone shits all over the DW universe (Mind link all Gallafreyans share? WTF?), and the character of the Doctor in particular. The author plainly couldn't be bothered with anything more than reading a couple paragraphs about Doctor Who in Wikipedia.

That said, I like his version of Vernon and Petunia. They're not stupid, don't heap on abuse unnecessarily, and are nicely manipulative.

Pet peeve: It's not spelled Tardis, it's TARDIS! Time-and-Relative-Dimension-in-Space.

Pet peeve #2: The Doctor does not do domestic. Time Lord kid or not. This is implied by the first eight Doctors, and explicitly stated by the Ninth. Hell, he travels into "interesting" (Read: Life/limb/TARDIS threatening) danger on a daily basis, kids, especially babies have no place near him.:wall:

Pet peeve #3: Harry Potter, a Time Lord. These stories never work. For that matter crossovers with Doctor Who inevitably cast the Doctor into OOC behavior, with a cliche'd Super!Harry.

(From the first chapter alone, because you don't want to get into negatives)
-1 point for a bad concept
    -1 point for bad grammar
-1 point for not even spelling TARDIS correctly
-1 point for not doing any research into the Doctor Who universe at all.
-1 point for having the Doctor do domestic
    -1 point for a Baby!Harry story
+1 point for having Vernon and Petunia have IQs over 50.

0/5, but because I can't actually give it zero stars, I guess I'll settle for 1 star, and the hope that I never see another HP/DW crossover again.

As a fellow DW fan I concur with HSRTG.

2/5 for a fans who aren't DW sticklers
    1/5 for fans who are.

Doctor Who, while heroic, is not given toward being a child friendly sort. Just look at the first few doctors and their attitude for confirmation of this.

Potter a timelord... no... just no.

    Far too OOC
    and reiterating; kiddies = no.

The writing itself is passable, although the characters come up with ideas in the blink of an eye. Events seem to move very quickly

    In the first chapter:

“No, no, no, no.” Shouted the Doctor as he stared at what remained of the device."

There aught to be a lot more "NO" in that, as the Doctor is prone to shouting that out loud instead of cursing, due to bad language not being an accepted norm on British television until the last 10 years.
