Hmmm, I was reluctant to recommend this particular story. It features character!bashing (or so the author claims) and some angst (although this angst didn't have the "emo" feeling to it). The logic behind the characters' actions is kinda stretched too.

On the other hand, the writing is pretty decent. It also is the first story I've ever seen that features bad!abusive!Lupin. Fucking hate that beast, so it is a welcomed plot device. And, of course, the eventual Honks smut is always much anticipated.

All in all, I'd probably give it a 3.5/5 if was to rate what's written so far, but I will reserve my opinion till later chapters.

 

I've seen this story on the Harry and N. Tonks category on ff.net as I stalked the progress of my own fic. I looked at the synopsis and decided that it looked like a waste of time.

I was right. The concept is somewhat unique, which is a bonus. Unfortunately, the execution is horrible. Granted I did tend to skim, but beyond the promise to Sirius, I did not understand why Tonks stayed as Lupin's stress ball. The characterization was more than off. Even though I'm not a Lupin fan, his behavior made no sense. Finally, while I love the concept of Harry staying with Tonks...it just seemed off here.

In short, nothing was believable. 2/5 for me.

Harry is a giant fucking idiot in this. You hear Tonks getting abused, you fuckin' reducto the door and come out slinging spells. Fuck the consequences. That's the Gryffindor way.

Or, he could have owled Moody or Dumbledore, either would have worked.

Yeah, that was the thing that made me reluctant about posting it here. It is one of those guilty pleasure fics that, when you analyze them, makes you think "this shit is made of fail"... but you follow it despite your common sense. Or at least this is how it works for me.

This story will not get into the library, but I'm still keeping my rating. Not due to me being too stubborn to "see the light", but because I know myself well enough to realise that I will be checking this story for updates tomorrow. There must have been something the author's done to keep my interest, and this is what he gets my mark for.

Really need a negative points for this. The unforgivable part is that abuser!Remus doesn't even wait a day or two to abuse her within earshot. Hello? Silencing spells. It's too Lifetime movie. 0/5

It's been updated. Some motivations are explained and it looks like more will be in the near future. It starts to make some sense. Maybe it's a bit too early to bury this story after all.

P.S. The update rate is impressive.

 

I'm not too fond of HP/NT or Asshole!Remus but I was willing to give it a try when I first came across it. I found out that I should have skipped it and saved my brain some of its melt.

 

Errr no. Actually, it's not.. print it out and use it as toilet paper. This story was shit when it started, and it's just become more feculent as it's gone on. I hated it when I read the first 5 chapters, went back to see what was supposedly redeemed about it in chapter 6, and hated it all over again. Biggest waste of 5 mins ever!

Remus: No real basis for the hate he has for Harry explained so far, and couldn't be arsed reading another chapter to find out 'the great reveal'. The whole screwing Tonks as a way of pissing off Harry? I'd sectumsempra the fucker. You know you would too.

Tonks: letting him treat her like that? Oh yeah, that really makes me think of her as a desirable match. NOT! Oh, and don't get me started on the crap she was spewing at him in ch. 6. Frankly, I don't know who that slag is but she isn't the Tonks I know, and I don't want to know her either. Harry should find himself some less damaged goods with some self respect.

Harry: Took way too long to do anything about Remus' crap. Yeah we expect angsty, pissy Harry, but he's also loyal to his friends. I don't buy him letting Tonks be abused.

All up, this crap is almost enough to put people off Honks stories. I'm gonna have to dig out Lorddwar's SoC before I try another lucky dip Honks story again.

Lol Brian, take it easy bro, less hating. You've read the original post (that by no means was extremely positive), you've read all the comments. You were prepared, so you have no one but yourself to blame for your disappointment.

I cried at the sheer naivety (...stupidity?). A lot of fics recommended by ip82 didn't make it to the library which doesn't make him a bad recommender. The guy just offers a wider variety of stories, attaching an extensive review to each one of them. Now, I'm a realist, and I know that I'm nowhere as good as ip82, but that doesn't stop me from at least trying.

 

I think I will throw away the maturity that Sesc and Cathal have shown towards you and just call you a retarded fuck face.

As for the story? 2.5/5 probably. I will most likely continue reading unless something horrendous happens, but there is not much saving it from total disaster.

Atleast this Tonks isn't two dimensional, and Remus has a personality, no matter how bad said personality is.

I haven't actually read the story yet, but will be soon. I just had one thing to say beforehand.

You must remember that Snape's mom let his dad beat the shit out of her regularly, because she loved him. And he was a muggle! She could have petrified him or something and done no harm, but she let him continue beating her because she loved him. Stupid reason really, but true. (As far as I can remember from and the sequel-that-shall-not-be-named, anyway. I cannot remember which lame book it was in, because I only read them once each.) Perhaps that's why Tonks will let the were-bastard beat her?

I'll reserve judgment until I've read the story, but from the reviews so far it doesn't look to be worth my time. Seriously, 3/5 for those defending it? That's not that great of a score, lmao.

 

Militis, she doesn't love him. Not romantically to be sure. The author made it pretty clear.

P.S. Keningston, I read your story while I was in Harry&Tonks section of ff.net. Man, it was going so good until you introduced the whole WoT part of the fic. And it's not even because I haven't read WoT and a sea of new names made nauseous. Your uber!Harry that leaves everyone in awe and kicks every ass in sight just ruined it for me. Again, everything before the WoT verse was introduced kept me happy.

 

The sad thing is I that I have him acting fairly handicapped right now. I really have no defense or no urge to defend the power of Harry in that story. I got the plot bunny in my head and decided to write a story around that premise. Thankfully in the next few chapters things for the Wizarding World will start tilting back towards the non-Harry factions sides.

Edit: I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the first chapter. I'm surprised that every damn fic has Sirius's belongings going to Harry when Andromeda makes for such a viable recipient.

Back to this story. I tried to read it again. The newest chapter actually...flows a lot better. His writing seems smoother and Tonks' explanation makes much more sense now. On that chapter alone I'll bump this up to a 3/5....and who knows what will happen if the quality continues to improve.
