Sorry Gullible, but the having a Thunderbird for an animagus was a pretty badass idea I've never seen in fanfiction yet.

Oh, yeah, because powerful animagus forms are so original.

They're a cop-out, man. A cheap way of giving someone more power.

For once, I'd like to see Harry's animagus form useless. I mean, completely fucking useless.

The main problem I have with this story, though, is that it isn't Harry Potter fanfiction anymore. It's a story about a dude named Rakhesh, or whatever it is. And frankly, it sucks. I can't read more then five minutes of this without cringing, but, hey... to each his own.

Yes that is irritating but Anarkia by Naia is also about some Julian Richards guy who is completely unlike Harry and in fact has nothing in common with him. Yet it is in the Library with 4 stars...it is also fairly cliche, uber school, vampires, sorcerers, hidden city. I actually found it on Miranda Flairgold's favorites.

But I have to admit that Snape has been done somewhat well there. Now I've forgotten the point I was trying to make.

I didn't say it was original, just that I've never read about a THUNDERBIRD animagus before, and even though it isn't original it was still cool.

Some story that absolutely SUCKED otherwise had his animagus as a European robin, which was essentially useless, tiny little bugger that it is (though it did peck out some snake's eyes).

Yeah, but it was only recently updated, after a two (or three) year wait. And none of us liked the update.

It was good once, but when I read the update, I realized I didn't remember the story at all. It looked like shit though.

Edit: Scratch that, I checked, one person liked the update.

That completly depends on how you view it.

I actually thought of a story where Harry was a fly animagus. Pretty useful for spying as it's small, can fly and dark so as to hide in the darkness.

But it's useless in combat. Easy to kill, can't harm anyone and it's only defensive quality are the size and speed.

Unless another story did it too, I think it was Luna the Moonmonster's Amulet of Time series. And yeah, it wasn't very good. (That it ended up Harry/Ginny was the least of its faults).

The Robin animagus is also in The Manipulator of Destiny. I think. Been a fuck-while since I've read it, but he had a Robin or a Cardinal... I'm pretty sure at least.

You realize it isn't very hard to make up a "bad ass" sounding animal, right?

He took something scary, thunder, and added the word "bird" at the end of it. Fuck, at least Zapdos has some cleverness to it. Had she made him a Zapdos animagus and turned the whole thing into a Pokemon parallel, this story would've been a fucking brilliant troll-job.

And for the love of meteorology, thunder =/= electricity. Thunder is sound. Why the hell does everyone call electricity thunder? Bah.

She didn't make up Thunderbirds, but rather borrowed the concept from Native American mythology. Their relation to thunderstorms comes from the belief that the beating of their immense wings caused thunder.

While several ideas in this story are cringeworthy, I actually don't mind this one--it's a fresh take on the "powerful, magical animagus form" thing (as opposed to, say, basilisks). While I think too much is made of animagus forms in the story in general, this specific point wasn't bad.

Just because you don't like this story doesn't make everything in it "autofail." I have mixed feelings about it myself: at times, some of what Flairgold comes up with is brilliant and highly creative; at others, her story meanders and loses focus. I suspect she doesn't spend quite enough time planning or trying to determine whether the next "really cool" idea she comes up with fits well with her story, so she's left inventing Deus ex Machina fixes after she's written herself into a corner.

As I mentioned before, I'll still click through on updates, gritting my teeth and pushing through the bad because the nuggets of good make it worth it. But I understand (and won't expect to change your mind) if you feel otherwise.

    Let me see.

    1. Rahkesh, or whatever. Likely some form of self-insert.

    2. A number of Mary Sue's.

    3. Dual animagus.

    4. Powerful animagus.

    5. Magical animagus.

    6. Very little relation to the Harry Potter series, despite being a HP fanfic.

    7. ???? (I'll let other's fill this part in)

    8. Fail.

I vote this thread should be locked until the next update.

Quit your fucking bitching. There hasn't been anything new added to the argument for almost a year.

Also, we get it; you don't need to keep saying Rahkesh 'or whatever'. Plenty of stories have name changes and, while this one was done in poor taste, it can be done well. (For instance, Bungle in the Jungle; Harry still refers to himself as Harry, but others say 'James'.)

I, myself, used to like this story, but agree that its been bordering on unreadable since chapter three of the sequel. It isn't worth making this much of a fuss over, Flairgold doesn't use DLP, and never-fucking-will.

We have more important things to discuss, like Shezza's gender.

The new chapter was rather short, and like the previous two, almost entirely filler. And more authorial masturbation over Namach. Harry's magic is still troubling him, and it still feels like a completely pointless subplot.

The author also happened to reveal her entire plan for the third fic in the author's note at the end.

Yeah those Author notes were fucked up.

Next fic from what I can tell:

    Demons invade

A bunch of secondry characters die but no one inportant since every main character is totally leet.

There is a battle and Rahkesh turns into a Death dragon.

    Elves get pissy.

    Namach kicks their arse.

    Rahkesh saves the world.

    fin

While filler at least the next chapter appears to have something half decent coming and she apparently has quite a bit of it written. I'm guessing she was going to have the arming in this chapter but decided to split it.

The vampire politics is getting pretty old, she is just putting way to much stuff in this story. That whole middle portion could have been 1/3 the size. Really I think its just scene setting for namach doing something with those 600 vampires.

And seeing Namach act like a retarded 12 year old girl after mind fucking someone was way to much of a character shift.

So while the next story looks like it is going to be pretty obvious I also think I'll enjoy it since it will probably have fuck all filler, unlike this one.

    Yeah...Kinda disappointed.

Still the most entertaining fic around but I can't say the best anymore.
