Just watched a pretty interesting and depressing video that makes me think either 1) we will never see winds published 2) Winds will be cut to the bone content wise or 3) GRRM will need more than 7 books to finish the story and will never finish the story.

Honestly. I'm looking forward to it, but after the shitshow that was Season 7, I'm not expecting anything groundbreaking. I've already moved on to the Wheel of Time adaptation that was picked up by Amazon.

 

We're gonna know the premiere date this Sunday

Lol you fuck for a moment I thought this was Book 6.

Alas it was just Season 8. Not too excited, to be honest - the quality of the series peaked with the Red Wedding, and then declined sharply once it was no longer based on canon and GRRM's own direct writing.

 

That's an extremely underwhelming teaser. Did very little to pump the hype for what should be their biggest budgetary balls to the wall season of any HBO show ever.

 

It's GoT. They don't need to advertise it that much. A teaser, then drop trailer #1 2 months out, trailer #2 in March and word of mouth will do the rest. I think even people who didn't like S7 will tune in just to see how it ends because they've already seen 7 seasons. Then you'll have BlueRay box sets extravaganza in the second half of 2019, with extra footage, bloopers, maybe something on Comic Cons to crank up the hype machine for The Long Night, and a flood of YT videos that'll drive traffic to the show and HBO subs for months just off the strength of GoT. This thing writes itself. The less they give before April 14th, the more people will salivate. I expect that the premiere will break all kinds of records for HBO streaming, it's their biggest show ever. There are people today who are fans of GoT who didn't even know about HBO before GoT.

The teaser may have done little to hype you up, but reddit subs are on fire.

 

HBO may not need to advertise it that much, but the seventh season teaser, the one with the king and two queens, was a lot better than this one.

The Long Night series is such a curious choice for the first GoT spin-off. It has proto-Starks and the Others, but not much more when it comes to elements familiar to TV show fans. No Iron Throne or even the Seven Kingdoms, but rather countless petty kingdoms or even not kingdoms. No Targaryen, Lannisters, Baratheons or Martells. No Night Watch, the Wall or Free folk. No Faith of the Seven. No knights. Even basic technology may not be medieval, but rather from late bronze age, unless there is some unexpected twists to that.

 

Well, as with anything else, just write a good story and the rest will take care of itself.

 

67 days to go. If someone wants to get in on the rewatch before April 14th, one episode/day is a good model.

How is it that a fans can do a better job with photoshopping characters into their works than people who get paid for it? Especially when they can plan it and make specific photos instead of working with whatever they can find on the Internet?

 

Won't say that is always true, but passion can do wonderful things.

 

Not the most exciting trailer GoT ever got, but I suppose people really waited for that one.

 

It wasn't awe-inspiring but it was nice to get confirmed that Jaime joins up with the goodies.

Kinda sad knowing that this will be the last of the story we will ever get post-A Dance With Dragons.
