The trailer people are damn good at their jobs, I'm one of those that really didn't care for a lot of the last season and was debating skipping the show from now on, but after seeing that trailer...

 

Now it seems that things are about to climax (the story not the people). So that alone should make this season a lot more interesting.

 

Some speculations.

I think Boltons will be done by the end of this season. They're as high at the moment as is possible for them to be, now is time for them to fall hard.

The trailer make it seems like it may be the same with High Sparrow, but there is no way Cersei is going to win any war she brought on herself. There will be plenty of violence though.

Then there is Littlefinger finding himself in an ominous situation, something probably new for him. I will be a little disappointed if he's not going to try some outrageous final scheme before his time is up.

Sansa as the Queen in the North after she's rescued from Boltons? Davos as her unlikely Hand?

It's impossible to tell from just few scenes, but I have a feeling that Jaime won't find any redemption in the TV show and instead will end up as more of a villain. Better a bad guy than an glorified extra from the previous season though.

And was that a flashback to King Aerys' murder?

Arya trains hard and will be for most of this season. Maybe the ending will give us some hints about the endgame for her though because right now I have no clue what should be her next "adventure".

The rest of Essos storylines still don't excite me as they should since they have the best duo characters at the moment (Tyrion and Varys) and dragons. Maybe they will positively surprise me once I actually see the episodes.

My memory is a bit hazy, but weren't there ony Kingsguard in the Tower of Joy? The dead guy did look like a Northerner, but the other one wore a Targaryen sigil didn't he? Or did the Kingsguard of the time look like that?

Though I suppose, there's not a lot other instances important enough in which a Targaryen soldier kills a northerner.

 

For some reason they changed their armour in the show, but it's them.

 

As we know from the books?

No, there were three KG against Ned and six other Northmen - Ned and Howland were the only survivors.

 

Are they completely diverging from the books this season? I know that they already reached the end of ADWD but do they still have the input of Martin of where the storys is going and not changing anything major?

It's cool if they change a few things here and there which they can't fit in or whatever but I don't want them to fundamentely change a characters journey like it seems like they do with Jamie.

 

Shorter seasons

DB and Weiss are apparently considering making the final seasons shorter. Fair play to them for wanting to end things on a high note before the show gets stale, but I feel like there is no possible way they could arrive at a satisfying ending that ties up most of the plot lines in even two full seasons.

Well.... here's hoping they do like a giant 3-parter movie or something to conclude Dream of Spring.

 

I think it's entirely plausible depending on how things end in the sixth season. North will be pretty much finished and if the same will be with Dany's adventures in Essos, and if Greyjoys and Martells stay as filler Houses, then 13 episodes are doable.

 

I could maybe, MAYBE, see it if Dany and Arya are both back in Westeros fulfilling their endgame roles by the start of S7.

 

You were going to skip the show to wait for the next books to come out, or you were going to pass on the show for good? Last season wasn't my favorite and had plenty of divergences from the books but I still thought it was pretty amazing.

I can't wait til next Sunday. This next work week is going to go by so slow.

Journalist Files FOIA Request for President Obama's Season 6 Screeners.

This is getting funnier and funnier. I'm just waiting for the episodes to leak online and GoT-gate that will follow.

 

I have a feeling HBO is going to clamp down hard on that this season. Additionally, I remember the guy who plays Theon saying that there's surprisingly little leaks this season. He suggested that it was because people are more invested in hiding surprises now that we're past the books, but I like to think that HBO is holding a figurative gun to everyone's head.

 

Less than 48 hours and we got a leak or at least a mistake in HBO services since some people watched it already and are posting screens. I don't mind spoilers, but these that do should be wary.

It appears that this year Dorne will be even worse than it was the last year. Quite an accomplishment if you ask me.
