Uh, have you never heard of OC-SI's? Technically, most SIs aren't even really based on author's personalities because like you said most are pretty boring and wouldn't actually do stuff. An 'some online wiki'? What, its Wikihow- an the post was reviewed, it can generally be trusted.. Obviously most people wouldn't be blase about killing people, that's why it being based on a sociopath seemed pretty cool. Yeah, the character seems boring but it's still early an it seems like the characters asoiaf version regularly killed people, but yeah that he wasn't caught once was just luck.

I agree with most of these complaints. I'm pretty excited for the story after that last line though.

This was ... eh. Better than most, but not good. Mostly, I had the same issues with it that the posters above mentioned. It isn't really an SI, and the sociopathic tendencies kind of came out of left field. One second he's talking to the inkeep and the next, he's killing the man. From there the man goes on a murder spree while living on the streets of Kings Landing. Honestly, the whole 'modern sociopath in GoT' schtick doesn't really work, IMO. We've seen a lot of casual murder and off the cuff plots, but not the more subtle stuff. The classically manipulative behavior has so far been largely absent but what there was felt hamhanded and contrived.

I hate self insert fics, but I gave this a read because of the complete lack of quality ASOIAF fics. Seems okay for what it is.

Not sure where you are getting that he only saw the show, the first chapter states the protagonist read the first two books.

A pretty good AU story. Brandon Stark didn't go with his father to ask for Lyanna and survived as a result. Robert dies at the Trident and Brandon takes the throne.

    Edit: Link fixed

Also, my standards are really low

You have linked to the 20th chapter. Here's Chapter 1. Will read and review when done.

Second chapter in and I may drop it for various reasons like:
    - Jaime speaking in front of everyone why he killed Aerys
    - everyone claims Brandond as king without any problems
    - Tywin captures Ellia and the children and they are sent to Dorne
    - Joanna lives for no reason at all

If this would be an AU where Brandon lived and Robert died without any other changes it could be interesting. Right now, that looks like a fix!fic and Stark-wank!fic.

Two chapters in and it's already a mess.

Apparently, Brandon think it a good idea to send Elia and her children (who were for some reason spared this time by Tywin) back to Dorne, to Doran Martell. Seriously, was there no one who could say "Don't let pretenders to the throne go to where they could gather the strongest support for their cause"?

Also, why the fuck would the author change it so that Aerys commanded Dayne, Hightower and Whent to keep Lyanna Stark hostage at the Tower of Joy? It literally makes no sense to send your hostage away and to Dorne, of all places.

So there are a bunch of those Carsei has Roberts kid by accident stories out there. Now my automatic reaction is that they are completely shit, but today I, by accident, read a Arya/Myrcella and I found it interesting enough(mostly because the relationship was background and used as a source of conflict in the story).

So are there any decent OC as Roberts kid stories out there? Or a OC lannister/Stark etc. What I'm asking in short:Are there any decent OC stories that aren't straight up SI's?

I agree! I was very excited when they put in that feature. The only thing that would make it better is a tool to easily export the OP story posts for offline reading like ficsave.

As for the story its on my watchlist if that means anything. I don't really identify with the MC at all but for some reason its written well enough that I want to see what stuff goes down. Considering he just blurts out extremely secret information to people who would likely kill him for it the story might be more enjoyable when taken as a guilty pleasure.

The Calibre plugin FanFicFare does just that, as long as the posts are threadmarked.

Purple Days is a time loop fic in the style of Edge of Tomorrow, where Joffrey is the main character. It takes a closer look at parts of Planetos that we don't normally see, such as YiTi and Ibb. It even makes Joffrey likeable in a manner that is not entirely unbelievable. It's not perfect and some parts drag on longer than I'd like, but I think it's a very good time waster.

Its certainly an interesting concept, but the writing falls flat.

I don't disagree. I think the writing does improve to a certain point as you go on, but the last several chapters have been a bit of a downward slide in my opinion. Or maybe, I just feel that way because I'm very tired of the anime-esque YiTish he has introduced.

I'm still hoping for a story based around Valyria, the dragonlords, or their culture before the doom. I don't think I'll ever get my wishes :'(

This is almost what you want. It's a series of loosely connected scenes based on a Valyrian Freehold invasion of the Seven Kingdoms before the Doom of Valyria.

I think the quality is all over the place. There are a lot of technical errors, but that aside, some chapters were great, some boring, some draggy, some forgettable. The Yi-Ti arc was poorly done, but I get how difficult that is, considering it's wholly original. To me, I think it's still well done.

Purple Days is an okay read. Rather than hand waving the timeloop there is some sort of greater mystery behind it, and this is the most interesting part of the fic.

The worst part is Joffrey saving his virginity, probably until the final loop when he finally fucks his twue wuv Sansa.

While interesting, it's so drab. The fact that anyone can add to it also make it even worse since some of the writer's grasp of English is not up to par.
