That's stupid and you should be ashamed of pushing it

The Westerling were rewarded with holdfasts, Crown pardon and good marriage. (per books canon)
One have to do wonder what they did to achieve it.

You don't have to wonder. Sybell gave her daughter tansy/moon tea to insure no child would come of Robb & Jeyne's union.

Good marriage? Tywin gave them his bastard niece. And the only Westerlings in on the duplicity were Sybell and her brother. The eldest son died at the Twins, trying to free Greywind.

I did a cursory search and came up empty. If anyone stumbles across it...
The problem with giving any criticism on AH, constructive or otherwise, is that people will shout you down no matter how right you are. I got reported for telling a guy he needed to use periods. And paragraphs.

So, The Duel came up in this thread quite a while back. At the time it was only teo chapters out of five in. It's completed now, and for the short piece that it is, pretty decent. It's one of those concepts that would practically replace the entire series, simply because canon would be so off the rails it would become another story entirely.

The piece starts with Rodrik allowing live steel in Joffrey and Robb's "duel". Terrible things happen from there. What I quite like, is how it ends. It's ... appropriate.

The problem with AH is that its a community based around answering 'what ifs' and not about story telling. So they write a lot of shit, but shit that often is quite interesting at its basis. But that will never improve because criticism isn't accepted.

Willingness to accept criticism depends on the member obviously, but the literary standards are lower than the ones here. It might be a deal breaker for some, but I'm pretty ok with rudimentary prose as long as it comes with interesting repercussions.

I meant as a community as a whole is against criticism. If you post such it will be followed by a lot of other posts such as 'ignore the haters this is the best thing I've ever read' which creates an environment that discourages improvement through criticism. I agree though, I tend to glance at most new threads in their asoiaf section to see find things that strike that balance of interesting and not terrible.

That's fairly accurate in my eyes. Unless we're talking timelines in which case there's always people with a vested interest ready to criticize, their fanfics get sucked off ala AO3/FF because the bulk of the active userbase is fairly young and therefore ignorant of what makes for good writing and reading.

I was reading the SI series about Rhaegar being a dude with a PhD in Literature and introducing Shakespeare to Westeros. It is good. I love the political schemes and intrigue but for the life of me I can't muster to give an ounce of care for Jenny. The story really looses a lot of it's potential by the drag that is the romance.

Another pisstake not to be taken seriously, but I giggled. Stannis Baratheon, Fantasy Football League Manager. Instead of the Game of Thrones, we have the Game of the Iron Throne Fantasy Football League. It's all chatroom conversations and it's a Jamie/Brienne thing, so YMMV.

All of them are trash. But I do like Bastards, Cripples, and Broken Things.

Don't be an ass, your sarcasm just confuses the point since I still don't know if that's what you mean, it isn't a unique name.

You obviously haven't spent enough time on this forum to be inured to snark, sarcasm, and the occasional biting comment.

Cripples, Bastards, and Broken Things is wonderfully written. If it weren't such a Stark wank, it would be near the top of the pile.

Sarcasm itself isn't the problem. The issue here is that he made a recommendation without a link, I asked to clarify and I still don't have an answer.
