I'd be seriously ticked off if the author pulled off a bait and switch, saying it was all hallucination. But seeing as Ashara is high up to her eyeballs on the incense it could turn out that the babe is normal, which would be disappointing.

A decently written time travel fic. I like how the author is handling the situation so far. Jon has future knowledge of things to come, but he has no way of letting people know without them thinking he's crazy. So, we are getting a situation where he's trying to fix things, but there's the feeling that he could fail or his plans might not come out the way he wanted.

 

Distasteful? I don't really understand what is distasteful about it. People are going to write about the most likeable and most fucked over family and try to make things better by envisioning them doing better through fanfiction...

That being said 99 percent of all Stark fix-it-alls are crap and should be considered about as useful to read as a Harry/Snape or Harry/Draco.

 

Ned defeating Arthur Dayne seems... a tad too much. But then again, I'd rather have Ned alive in this story. Wonder though what will happen with Lyanna from here onward.

 

She will probably flee or some other crazy idea. Personaly I would love to see Ned make her marry Robert and claim that Rhaegar kidnapped and raped her.

 

Considering her running away last time helped kickstart this whole thing, I would be surprised if she tried to flee. I am eagerly expecting to see if she'll bring up Clegane and Lorch's unannounced visit to Ned.

I was surprised that the author just quickly disposed of the child that she gave birth to. I had expected more drama about the whole shebang, yet in just one or two sentence, the little dragonspawn was gone before it barely even lived.

 

I think, that this story's Eddard has this well in hand. Remember that look he shared with her before the fight with Dayne? He has her cowed, like he should. After all, she was personally responsible for the deaths of their father and brother, not to mention the civil war. I think she will be pretty cowed.

Her daughter (which she hoped would be a boy, died [btw, strange decision that, it mostly invalidated her previous inner anguish chapter, but that is normal for this author, since all of his/her stories are a crazy ride into more craziness]) has just died, her brother has come for her, despire all her sins, and her hated prince is dead.

Concerning the duel between Stark and Dayne, I think Dayne simply wanted to die in an honorable fashion. That's why Stark won. But in the story the fight was less about swords and more about exchanging parenting advantages, which was very strange, but still normal for the author.

 

I'm curious about the fake Aegon, why go to all the trouble when they already determined that the babe is fake? Why take him to Winterfell? It's all a bit convoluted. Drop the kid with the Arryns or other family. Why drag Ashara into another idiotic plot and rumor?
Ned winning against Arthur was a bit of a stretch but what the hell; this Arthur was a complete moron so seeing him fail time and again wasn't that bad. It's comeuppance time for the former Sword of the Morning.

Lyanna will most likely wed Robert which is a shame, dumb as she is, inflicting Robert Baratheon on any woman is a cruel thing to do.

We're still to see Catelyn's reaction to meeting the Bloody Wolf. She was apprehensive about the new Ned when news reached her.

 

Hey, you leave Bobby B out of this, he's a man who killed his way through the entire countries for the sake of a single woman. If anything, she doesn't deserve him because she was way too fucking stupid and thought life was a song, thought life would be so fucking grand and that nothing of true consequence would happen if she eloped with Rhaegar.

And now on another subject... I never honestly understood Ned's quivering about the Targaryen family getting killed off. Sure, the deaths of Elia, Aegon and Rhaenys were needlessly brutal, but their deaths were required, otherwise there'd be rebellions popping all over. Dorne can rebel all they want though, it's been proven they can't do shit outside of their own country.

I think it's been proven numerous times that if you let the children of your enemies live on, they'll eventually grow up and want to take some form of vengeance against you. Best to nip it in the bud, no matter how distasteful it might seem. Shame no one applied this logic when the Greyjoy rebellion was crushed.

 

Wasn't it said somewhere in the books that Robert loved to be thought a great hero by others? Isn't it in the scene with Small Council(Cersei's chapter in AFFC) where she finds out Balon died in a storm? Heroes don't kill children that's why Iron Island don't have a new island made of skulls like was advocated by Tywin during the GR.

Bobby B loved his Lya so much that he left a trail of bastards throughout his rebellion detailing his march on KL. Nothing says love like fucking other women. His words should be 'The Seed is Strong' and not 'Ours is the Fury' ;>

Getting back to So Soars... I'm waiting for a chapter POV from Doran or Oberyn. Now that Ned got Lya I'm sure the author will give a five or six random POV chapters before we get to KL and the meat of things.

 

Was he married to her during all that time? Look, I'm not saying he's a perfect guy or anything of the like, but I dislike how most people seem to think he would have been the same with Lyanna as he was with Cersei.

 

I didn't say he'd have been the same. Truth be told I think he'd strive to be a good king if only to impress her. I'll even go as far as saying that it was peace that destroyed Robert. At the same we have to acknowledge that Bob had his vices.
