Crowning moment of stupidity.

 

IMO, people give Varys too much power/influence in fics. He tends to hold no sway over the serving men and women, yet in this fic, he's got people fucking everywhere, from Dorne to Dragonstone.

 

I was never a fan of Varys, I found him freaking irritating with how much power he had. The Great Spider with everyone in his web. ugh. I'm leaving the series(canon) until it's finished, if it gets finished that is. With GRRM getting up there with his age, you never know.

Back to the story:
He probably has people on the Wall and Beyond. It's ridiculous. The wet-nurse in Starfall that came with Ashara from capital was a total asspull. Her drugging the whole castle...:facepalm They all should be dead with the amount of freaky incense they inhaled.

 

It's not just his age and obesity that is troublesome for the continuation of the series, it's the fact that the fat fuck types with one finger.

Anyhoo, the story is getting a bit too convoluted for my taste, as I've previously mentioned and as Brukel said, there's so little of Denys Arryn and yet the fic is titled, presumably, for him. I hope this whole mess gets somewhat resolved in the next 6-7 chapters.

And I hope he stops introducing any more new POVs.

 

Among new stories Sera dy Ralandrant's "And on Your Head a Crown".

An interesting Margaery/Robb fic. It might even get finished, as opposed to the author's other work. It has a decent update rate.

I read that on AO3, not enough war and too much wedding shenanigans. And Catelyn pisses me off:

She's trolling us like hell here. Wait, who was it that kidnapped Tyrion and ensured Riverlands was raped back and forth? Oh yeah... Catelyn. Obviously she's a pacifist.

 

An interesting take, but not an interesting story, I'm afraid. For the first three or four chapters, I could endure the schemes and plotting and all of that lot, but it seems that shall be the main theme of the story, and I honest to god find very little enjoyment in those.

Mind you, it will be interesting to see the relationship between Robb and Margaery develop, if nothing else.

 

Finished chapter 7, the AN just blew my mind. It's good to know Robb has his priorities straight :/. This will be angst ridden trip to the very end.

From the same author that's doing In Good Company, it's an OK fic, so far. Not great, in my opinion, but what's posted so far is worth a read.

There's The Distance by the same author as In Good Company. Summary: AU where Ned died at Tower of Joy, and to ensure the loyalty of the North, Robert ordered Stannis to marry Catelyn and appointed him Lord Protector of the North until Robb comes of age.

 

Yeah, that author seems to have a hard on for Stannis and I do not mind it at all

 

I just wish he'd stick with one story, finish it and then move on to the next.

 

And I wish that he did not pair Stannis together with Catelyn.

No sane person likes Catelyn.

 

Well, Catelyn's position is at least understandable, if taken from the POV of a noble woman in a medieval society. Not likable, but understandable.

 

Her personality is understandeable, it's how she acts that gets to me.

 

Telling Jon he should have been the one to get crippled instead of Bran sealed her fate...What a cunt.
