Doesn't that often more have to do with how someone is raised, rather than their origin? I mean, if he were raised in Dorne, with that kind of... mentality surrounding him, then her fear might be justified.

But then again, we're talking about Catelyn here, who thinks geography trumps nurture.

The chapters were so so, Barristan is quite the pathetic lovelorn twit in this one. I doubt Ashara even noticed the white tool.

 

The Barristan chapter was completely stupid in that regard. How he comes to think that Ashara was forced to bear Ned's child I have no idea.

One moment, he's talking to himself about challenging Ned to a duel and then he saves Rhaenys from the aftermath of that battle, setting himself a new goal. I bet she's gonna convince him not to fight Ned.

 

Well this is So Soars... stuff happens.

I wonder if Elia got truly fragged, or is it only a flesh wound. If she lives then the author is pulling his punches. I don't even get why Rhaenys was kidnapped if she didn't stay so. Oh well, Barristan needed new direction in life. I actually want him to fight Ned and Ned to kill his ass five ways to Sunday. Let him live up to that moniker Bloody Wolf.

 

I still think that there is enough discussion of that fic to merit a thread of its own. Can someone who likes it make a thread for it? I would, but it sucks.

It only seems like that because this thread in particular is otherwise very slow with the post count and talking about that fics speeds up the pace just a bit more than you might be used to.

 

The majority of posts in the past 12 pages have been about So Soars; I think that more than warrants a new thread for it. And it's not like any of the discussion about So Soars has been all that interesting either, since it basically amounts to "So Soars updated", "Lyanna is a bitch", "Catelyn is a bitch".

 

I'm not even going to bother reading the story cause it's been ruined for me, not spoiler-wise, but like, I wanted to read about some random Arryn dude I'd never heard of kicking ass and instead I get to hear about how big a douche Arthur Dayne is and how crazy Lyanna is.

At the beginning of Robert's Rebellion, Ned Stark, the new Lord of Winterfell, must make his way homeland try to come to grips with his losses - and his future.

 

That was a good fic. Predictable, but still good.

Incidentally, Sn0rkack, "So Soars the Young Falcon" updated with three new chapters and one of them is finally about Denys.

So in Shore to Shore, Ned finds out about Lyanna even before going to war? Wouldn't that have made a huge difference? I mean, hell, why would he want to get back a woman who basically went willingly now? This war would only be for justice to be done for his Father and Brother. Why the hell would he still put Robert on the throne?

 

Everything that happens in that story fits canon perfectly. Aerys killed his father and brother, and wanted Eddard dead as well, why shouldn't he join the Rebellion? Discounting the fact that his best friend and mentor were rebelling as well. And Lyanna is his sister, no matter what, he wouldn't simply abandon her.

Robert was also the only logical choice, he was Aerys' cousin after all.

 

Wished there was a little bit more to Shore to Shore, like maybe Ned meeting Cat or finding out if Jon was Ashara's or Lyanna's, but yeah, fit perfectly what with Ben taking the black and even the fisherman's daughter.

 

If you read the comments of Shore to Shore, the author states that Jon would not be Ashara's.

 

Are there fics in which Jon is Ashara Dayne's son and stays in Dorne, instead of going north with Eddard?

 

First story that came to mind. There's another one where he's raised by Arthur Dayne but I think he's Lyanna's son in that one.

Has anyone told the author about the wonder of the enter key?

 

The author starts improving in the last two chapters, shame he left it there.

When I went and checked his profile, I noticed it's the same author that wrote "The narrow theme of love". Then I noticed the fic directly above it. Ouch.

Fortunately, he had two other Edmure/Roslin fics that made up for it.
