Ties of Blood and Fire chpt 22 updated 2-3 times in the last few weeks. I think it's far and away the best updating Ice and Fire fic around. Aegon is a real son of a bitch and I love it.

I really like this story, it's well written, but... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

 

Yeah. We just had like 10k words on nothing. That is impressive.

 

The guy who wrote So Soars the Young Falcon and it's sequel is writing a little side story using the Island in the Sea of Time plot device. Once Again, Robert The story is basically the lords of Robert's army get transported to the future during the War of 5 Kings. It's only 5 chapters, but I think it's fun to read just to imagine Robert in his prime in this time period.

Also, I know it's been recc'd before, but for those who haven't given it a try yet A Knight's Watch has had some pretty epic chapters recently. The story is 39 chapters and over half a million words. The authors says there are two more chapters left, but I don't see how he can end it in two chapters unless a sequel is planned.

 

That one with Robert is somewhat enjoyable. Here's hoping it doesn't get too convoluted and loses itself in too many PoVs.

Also, The House of Elendil updated with a new chapter, 8k long.

Our Choices Seal Our Fate by DolorousEdditor is new. He's the guy who wrote A Knight's Watch so you can expect chapters exceeding 10,000 words and a pretty steady update rate. Basically, in this universe Rhaegar is able to appeal to the rebel lords thus avoiding the big battle at the trident.

The only downside is that he has Jon/Sansa listed and I'm really getting tired of that pairing. For some reason over the last year there has been a large increase of that pairing.

 

It also has Jon/Daenerys listed, so that should be interesting. Agree with you on the Sansa thing - after reading about them in A Knight's Watch I'd much rather see Jon/Daenerys (which is a pretty interesting dynamic in this story for numerous reasons), but I don't mind it too much. I'm really enjoying this so far.

I've said it before in this thread, but I'd rate A Knight's Watch pretty highly - like ~4.5 It definitely has weak points and it dragged a lot in parts (some of the beginning and especially towards the end when it focused on Arya - but holy shit for a 670k word fic it does pretty well) but overall I really enjoyed it. Kinda confuses me that it didn't get too much discussion over here, especially when you consider So Soars has about twenty pages of people talking about it (even if most of the posts were criticising it). I think Willem Royce was one of my top ten favourite characters of all time.

 

I'm about to sit down and start reading a Knight's Watch. So here's hoping it's as good as you advertise, Fatality.

 

I haven't read any soiaf fics until now (only some quests). The thread is rather long and it is difficult to find the real gems. So, what fics are must read/5-Star worthy?
