I shudder at the very thought of Jon/Arya. Even worse is the Arya/Tyrion/Jon Love triangle. So glad the series didn't go down that route. I can't bear the thought of Arya being anything other than the adorable little murder-hobo she is.

 

Yeah, it's pretty cool to read, but I am thanking the Old Gods that he changed so much of the story because his original ideas didn't look nearly as interesting as what he actually published.

I really doubt it would have mattered either way. An author shattering a fanon delusion just tends to make dedicated people double down. Even if Martin's notes had said, "Jon and Arya end up hating each other and never talk again," that wouldn't stop people who were dead-set on the pairing.

 

At least it wasn't Jon/Sansa.

It says Arya/Jon are tormented by their incestuous feelings (half-brother/sister) until they find found out Jon's true parentage. That suggests that the truth made the issue of their incest no longer significant (If they're cousins rather than half-siblings then it's fine).

But it doesn't specifically say R+L=J.

I firmly believe in the whole R+L=J theory (is there anyone who doesn't?) but considering pretty much nothing else in that letter survived the writing process, it's hardly confirmation of anything.

That said, Jaime basically just killing everyone until he got to be king sounds like a great concept for a crackfic.

Honestly, as far as the outline goes, while Jon/Arya is a bit squicky, at. Least I'm not fucking sick and tired of it like Jon/Sansa.

 

Seems like GRRM went in the complete opposite direction seeing as that kind of power is the last thing Jaime wants. Like halfway through he said, "Fuck it, Jaime can't have everything - I should cut his hand off to make amends"

 

You're all assuming that Arya/Jon or Arya/Jon/Tyrion won't happen. As long as they are still alive, the possibility is there.

In this outline Tyrion doesn't seem to be a dwarf, Arya's story-line takes her to the wall with Bran and all this is under the assumption of a five year time-skip anyway, which we know isn't happening now. Arya is eleven and her character is as far from a romantic that you can get. Also, if this outline contained any significant spoilers, it would never have been released. I don't think GRRM could get any more obvious that Jon/Arya or Jon/Arya/Tyrion isn't happening.

It clearly suggests that Ned isn't Jon's father, which more of less confirms R+L=J in the original plan. Would such an important plot point have been revealed if it was still the current plan? Of course, since everyone assumes it to be true, they could have just given up on hiding it, but it could also mean R+L=J to no longer be the current plan.
