I think something similar was already written but I can't remember the name.

I know of the story you mean, Hal, but as I recall, the writer wasn't quite talented. Maybe even terrible.

    Summary:

Instead of joining the Night’s Watch, Jon travels south to squire for Stannis on Dragonstone.

There isn't anything readable with the prompt I mentioned, I just want to see what would happen between Robert, Eddard, and Jon.

That was fairly recently recommended, 5 or 6 pages back.

Not really all that good, I think we were all hoping for something that lasted longer, at the very least.

So is The Throne That Nobody Wanted good? Cause It seems pretty popular despite it's really weird crossover premise.

It's harder to find what's good about it. The story started as a crack one-shot and it shows. After the first couple chapters finish the joke, it jumps straight into complete wish fulfillment with awful attempts at humor mixed in. The writing quality is pretty bad as well, so that doesn't help.

Well, I just read some of it, and let me tell you...its weird. You were right about the wish fulfillment.

So what I kinda like about it is Robert's and Mordred's relationship as father and daughter, it seemed like the only consistent thing I found funny.

Now...Arturia is Viserys who changed his name to his real life name as Arthur Pendragon...and has harem.

Well let's see...oh Daenerys is completely in love with him...like to the point were it seems she is Yandere. Arthur's harem is Sansa/Shirou, Mordred, Daenerys, and Lorelei/Lancelot. Yeah, you read that right, a genderbent Lancelot is in Arthur's harem. Oh, and most likely Arianne Martell considering that Arthur was to be engaged to her in order to actually get to Westeros.

I'm gonna read this fic still, just to see were this trainwreck goes.

Pretty much; it's a legitimately funny crackfic for a bit but then it keeps going

I still enjoy The Throne Nobody Wanted, but it's in no way a good story. It's a low quality, wish fulfillment story that knows exactly what it is and doesn't try to do anything more than that. If you can appreciate the silly premise, humour and situations it creates for itself, then it's quite fun, else there's nothing else really going for it.

To Go Forward - has a few Harry Potter tropes such as being reborn before things went to shit, letters written in the past that reveal important info for the present etc. But it's probably one of the better time travel/reincarnation fics in this fandom.

A Letter to Lady Stark - would you look at that. A Jon/Arya instead of a Jon/Sansa. Jon is the King of Westeros and needs a queen. Written well and I think the author has a handle on things so that's nice.

Thieves of Hope - I think this is gonna be another Jon/Arya. Only instead of being King like the one above Arya made it to the Wall and Jon survives the assassination attempt. He flees with Arya to meet up with Stannis before the attack on Winterfell.

That's all I could find recently. Everything else are modern setting or slash.

That first story has a fairly predictable background: willing Lyanna elopes with Rhaegar, expresses dislike of Robert, but has no trouble fucking off with a married man herself so long as she entertains the fantasy that what gibberish they spoke before a tree totally makes that farce a true marriage.

Why do people continue write utter drivel like this? Just... why?

Also, that's one of the weirdest (shittiest) Ned Starks I've ever read about. Acts completely out of character.

I dunno, I enjoyed the little that was written. Haven't read any other ASOIAF time travel stories that didn't completely suck, and Jon's narrative is interesting enough so far. I like how he keeps getting distracted by his own emotional problems, so the story doesn't just become him fixing everything. Him being in King's Landing also works, since he really doesn't know the intricacies of the future there to be able to just manipulate everything.

Nothing high quality by any means, but decent enough to be pleasant.

Jesus man, lol, the background is all of a few paragraphs. It's not like it takes up giant portions of the story. I swear we have to find you an outlet for the rage you have over this issue. I actually think it may be a good idea for you to write a one shot where Lyanna is seduced by Rhaegar however she starts to regret running off, but Rhaegar doesn't care and starts to violently rape her. As she's stuck in the Tower of Joy she starts to lose her mind because of the guilt over what she has done and even starts to wish Robert would come save her. In the end when Ned shows up it's not a pool of blood from childbirth he finds her in rather she has slit her wrists because she can't live knowing she is responsible for half her family being killed. This is the perfect outlet for you Odran :D

Why would I waste my time on writing about a willing Lyanna and Rhaegar?

    You're being awfully silly.

Not to mention, Lyanna dying and never truly facing the consequences of the shit she pulled wouldn't be a satisfactory ending at all.

Depends on your definition of willing. I said use seduction which in this case is basically an older man manipulating a younger girl to climb onto his horse for the sole purpose of impregnating her.

And how am I being silly? Literally every fic that so much as has 1 paragraph in it depicting Rhaegar and Lyanna in a positive light seems to cause you an intense fury that ruins the entire story. That seems a bit silly.

Lyanna hating Robert because he sleeps with other women while he's betrothed and then absconding with a married man makes her a hypocritical piece of shit.
