    I'm looking for some advice.

A number of you have commented on my grammer and sentence structure impeading the flow of my writing. Naturally, getting a prereader would solve this but we all write to improve and I am looking for someone to point out exactly where I am going wrong so I can do just that.

I don't need a grammer nazi - but someone who can say "that doesn't flow right, if it was reworded thus it would be better"

    reply or pm me.

    Thanks

I assume this is a request for a beta reader or proofreader. What genre of fiction are you writing? Tell me a little about the story and I might be willing to help you.

Spelling and grammar are two things I am good at, exposition isn't really but I'm getting better. I can help with spelling, grammar, and structure, but if you cannot tell a good story with details, emotions, plot, and characterization, all the help in the world with form won't change much.

I am tenetively offering to help. Why dont you go ahead and point me towards the story or send me what you've got and I'll see what we can do.

Asking for help is a good first step, over time you'll get better on your own. If you are willing to put in the effort, I am willing to help.

First off, "grammer" is spelt wrong (its grammar)

And if you want some grammar help, then you can always read ur story out loud. Reading things out loud can point out more mistakes.

Did that, more than once - it sounded fine to me. Thats why Im asking for more specific advice.

I write more than just HP fics, which is why I'm looking for more general gramatical and syntaxial advice. I believe that I have the bigger picture things down (character and plot) alright but I constantly get comments about how the reading isn't quite right or that the grammar makes it difficult to understand.

I think you'll find that after a certain period of using perfect imagination betas, the corrections of various mistakes will be drilled into your skull so much that you no longer need a beta.

Necro = annoying newbie mistake and given your response I assume he feels properly chastised for make a stupid newbie mistake.

Then again, your post was just as informative and helpful as his was.

Now I'm stuck doing the same pointless posting in a old topic, because Kung-Lou's question was answered in October. But I've got that little tag under my name which means it's my burden to inform the newbies of their stupid newbie mistakes.

If you wanna help the mods out, PM one with the obvious bad posts or even better, take advantage of that little red triangle icon for "Report Post."

    !

I'm really sorry everyone. I saw "Similar Threads" at the bottom of the page and didn't take the time to read the date of the last post. I apologize profusely, and I admit, I'm a dumb newbie.

I'll make sure not to let it happen again.

And sorry for posting AGAIN in this thread; I'll try not to be an imbecile in the future.
