I've been watching the movies recently and I can't help but be amazed at his potrayal. I know it's not book accurate but his performance actually made me like Snape. He really sold the tragic victim Snape well (again not book accurate) plus in the books Snape comes across as an asshole but with same lines Rickman actually makes him look reasonable in how he deals with students and people around him. I actually think he is a large part of why the movies were so successful. His acting is just too good. What did you think of his potrayal of Snape?

 

I'll never forgive him for inspiring so much lust for such an awful character.

 

Great actor who put in a great portrayal, but he was way too old and good looking for the role. That entire generation should have been 31 when the books started. Anyone who was around DLP when the books were released are now older than Snape, James, and Lily would have been.

 

My manager tells new hires to try and annoy me by coming to my desk and saying "Snape is a good guy".

Rickman's Snape is far from book-accurate Snape (though i love Rickman). Not buzzed for the HBO remake, but one thing they can do immediately to get me interested is portray a more book-faithful take on Snape, awfulness and all.

 

On the contrary were there other actors and potrayals they got book accurate? Top off my head can think of Draco and Neville. Felton and Lewis both literally lived their roles accurate to the books.
