In HBP JKR sets Dumbledore up as a Julius Caesar... Revered, Popular, General, has the world wrapped around his finger, and gets stabbed in the back (figuratively speaking) by one of his trusted friends/leutenants. Thus opening the door for the next Emperor... Oops I mean "Hero of the Light" to take the reigns, but to do so he must wade through a Civil War.

Dumbledore = Julius Caesar.

Harry = Augustus Caesar (not really Dumbledore's son but then Augustus wasn't Caesar's kid either.)

Severus Snape = One of the Senators plotting against Dumbledore and the one to deliver the final blow.

Rufus Scrimgeour = Marc Antony, it's a bit of a stretch here... But if you think about it Antony was the leader of the Roman Army (like Scrimgeour is the leader of the Ministry) Antony claimed to be the rightful leader and tried to take the power from Augustus the rightful heir (Scrimgeour wants Harry to just go along with the Ministry)

I am seriously pissed at JKR right now. She just slaughtered one of my favorite historical figures under the guise of Dumbledore. She must pay.

After seeing her great idea for removing Dumbles was called the corny as shit "Unbreaklable Vow" I honestly doubt she is smart enough anymore to make that drastic of a connection.

I'd go for the good old Star wars analogy:

Vader: Snape

Palpatine = Voldie

Obi won= Dumbles

Luke= Harry.

Snape has supposedly turned on Dumbles, killing him, he'll possibly redeem himself later on to finish off Palpatine if this is true.
