Update from the author for Alexandra Quick and the Wizard War

tl;dr — they’re near the stages of a final draft but there’s also a lot of feedback from their betas:
“No one thinks the writing is bad or that the story isn't good. But I was warned that I will lose some readers”

so they have to consolidate and process that feedback, plus real life stuff… but it’s near the end stages

Quite some time ago I tried reading Alexandra Quick but I couldn't get into it. I remember it's quite shitty. Why is it so popular? Is it ongoing? Does it have sequels?

Yes to both. There’s… 5? parts to the series right now, and the author is still working on the next one.

As to why it’s so popular, I guess opinions differ on the topic of its shittiness.

Opinions about AQ mostly come down to whether you like the main character’s personality (book 4/5 AQ is quite likable IMO, but it’s a journey to get there), or care to read an HP fic that takes place in wizarding America with an original cast of characters. The writing itself is excellent.

I still need to read the most recent book. Perhaps that's next.

Book 6, AQ & the Wizard War, starts on April 1! This is apparently not an April Fools joke. Probably.

The whole 373,094 word book has been written already, and chapters will be published every Monday and Friday through the end of October.

Is this the final in the series?

No, the series is planned for 7 books, and honestly I’ve never been more confident in a fan fiction writer executing on that plan

Funnily enough I checked their blog a couple of days ago and posted in here in the past as well. Going to have to reread book five, but excited for this. A bit of nostalgia there too so happy to hear this.

So Chapter 1 of the Wizarding War is out.

Actual HP characters in Hermione and Bulstrode, cool. Attempting to assassinate Hucksteen with a cockatrice, also cool. The Confederation being super duper mighty and unstoppable by all the other ministries? American exceptionalism lives on I guess. The Ban is also cool, makes sense why everyone else isn't coming in. Not really enough else to go on at this point. Still looking forward to chap 2.

It was, indeed, unexpected. So far the Quickverse

had been fairly removed from the Potterverse cast, I only recall big T mentioning having visited Voldie at some point and some vague references to the British war.

Nice, thrilling, James Bond-ish hook for book 6.

It makes sense to show the international community’s response to the reveal at the end of the last book. And it serves as a good refresher about the Deathly Regiment and why it was needed in the first place.

Not sure how much sense it makes for all these powerful governments to have sent Hermione and Millicent specifically, though.

Ehh, no particular reason why it couldn’t be them, and it’s fun for us readers.

Caught up to chapter 23 today. It's good entertainment, definitely recommended.

We are already past chapter 45 of 66.

Crazy things have happened. Alexandra is all over the place, always getting into trouble.

I will say, I'm getting sick of Larkin Mills. Everytime she plans on coming back, I'm just like noooo. The muggles are the worst bit about this story.

    Also, latest cliffhanger is o:
