Same here, this is turning into one of the best shows I've watched in a while.

I felt really bad for John at the end of the last episode, finally tries making a move on Stahl and she walks off with that pompous chrome prick. I hope the guy gets hit by a bus.

Also lastly they need to stop dangling little mentions of The Wall and give us more. It's driving me nuts, I want to know what the hell it actually is.

 

That ending was actually pretty damn moving for a TV show. I felt so bad for the culprit and the victim.

Also Kennex/Stahl ftw as well.

The Wall is intriguing I wonder if it'll turn out to be a wall similar to Dredd

 

Honestly I have no idea but from the way they talk I'm getting the impression it isn't. Ive heard them toss around the word "them" and "they" a lot which in my mind at least implies there is something of an organized group for lack of a better word on the other side. Also it should be noted I think that who or whatever it might be behind there is a serious enough threat that when a known and wanted murderer/thief/death-bot builder escapes over the Wall the police don't even pretend like they're going to go after him, they just automatically assumed he got the shit murdered out of him and moved on with their day. Thus far at least they aren't stupid so I think there has to be a reason behind that.

 

I'm actually now way more interested in The Wall, as in the recent episode, "Straw Man" it was said that Kennex was alive and significantly aged when the Wall went up meaning it's recent. THey keep teasing it so I'm wondering what could have been the reason for it.

 

Yeah that was fascinating and the other part I noticed was when Dorian mentioned regular drone patrols of The Wall. Whatever is behind that thing is considered an active enough threat that it's continuously monitored.

 

My theory (spoilered for reasons)

is that there's a huge war of some kind going on and The Wall is the solution that several different states or countries came up with for protection. The outside is where all the tech is being created and then funneled into the city to create unrest and distress. Tieing that into Kennex's personal plot line for the leg, his old girlfriend is involved with whatever corporation or group is on the outside and she was supposed to be helping them, she was their mole into the Police department of the city. Kennex wasn't supposed to survive, but he did. Thus she disappeared outside the wall and I have a feeling she'll show up later working for the Outsiders.

I think what we're seeing is a huge build up to some super soldier, or group of them, that's going to eventually be sent in to initiate a coup, that has/have multiple facets of bio-tech that we've already seen, that's apparently always ahead of what the Police have experience with.

While I generally agree with you about the girlfriend, I think the specifics might be a bit different but generally I think your right. As for what's behind the Wall my personal theory right now is that some sort of cybernetics/robotics experiment went terribly terribly wrong somewhere in the area. No rational army is going to sit by and let the enemy build a wall that massive and then just call it quits. What I think is that it's something less/more than human or it originally was, the people in the city couldn't destroy them without staggering losses so they built the wall to contain them. We've been seeing "when tech goes wrong" the entire series so far and I think it's setting the groundwork for whatever the hell is back there. Eventually what I think we'll see is that even if they were crazy at first whatever it is back there is perfectly rational and lucid now and Insyndicate is there operations arm outside the Wall. They're working up towards a plan to destroy a section of the Wall and let whatever is back there pour out before anyone can stop them.

Wait, so the Wall isn't containing the city, it's surrounding something else? I thought it was a protective construct not a prison to keep something in. That'd be nuts though if like the whole of the midwest was surrounded by a Wall to keep something in.

Takes place in L.A, right? My guess is the Wall is containing a particularly violent pocket of territory along what used to be the US-Mexican border... maybe a group using extremely advanced and uncontrollable tech set up their own pocket state, and the Wall was the American and Mexican reaction, paralleling the American reaction to Communism, but far more literal: Containment.

 

Huh, never thought of it that way.

I thought the wall was just in a portion of the city. Like a few square blocks kinda thing.

 

So.. a bit late to the party but I finally managed to overcome my dislike of Fox and watched this series. And I have to say it could be my favorite series this year/season. Great interaction between the Cop and his Android partner (I even like the MXs) and the stories are quite interesting. Very cool effects and the show really manages to portray a believable futuristic world. ( I especially like the small thinks like the translator or the sheets).

For the wall...I am also of the opinion that it protects the city/state from being overrun with refugees etc. (Some scenes hint that the technological lvl behind the wall is much lower.. and that it is possible to be allowed in if smart enough. Which would rule out things like a plaque etc.)

Now for the real reason I write this post... any info if this series gets continued or are the rumors true that it got axed?

 

There's a show that's disturbingly similar to this show called Intelligence if you're impatiently waiting to find out if this is still in production.

This is a bit closer to our timeline and waaaaaaaay less sci fi tech. But it's a buddy cop, one has access to "data field" and they fight specialized crime and such.

 

But for some badass navy seal, special forces, delta marine he's sure shitty when compared to the Secret Service chick.

 

I couldn´t stand the pilot of that series where he attacks and flees from that data centre. The fight scenes were so extremely unbelievable.
