Seconding this. Entertaining read and I hope he continues it. 11 year old drug addict was a bit wtfish though.

Lol, I was just going to post it here. Interesting set-up, and I do hope the author continues it, yeah. It has all sorts of potential -- the idea is there, now they only need to something with it.

Yeah, entertaining story. A bit strange, as it seemed like crack up until 5th year and then became completely serious.

Really didn't like the really clumsy approach to the Harry/Daphne. The conflict was just annoying and had no real reason.

That was my first thought as well, but you have to consider that they were eleven. I don't think that any kind of argument between eleven year olds has a deeper meaning.

Don't know if that's what the author intended to do but it helped me justify their annoying squabbles.

    Definitely going to follow this.

Wat. They are eleven... Otherwise, it was very confusing at the beginning, Daphne and Harry are ridiculously overpowered, Tracy seems to be included for no reason.

You find out explanations for everything in the last bit. Idea isn't exactly unique, though there are a few interesting deviations. I'd like for the author to continue it.

While typically girls start to mature, body-wise, around eleven to twelve. It's not uncommon for some to start earlier. I knew several girls that had breast development at age ten. I'm not talking about D-cups or anything. I find it more odd that he, being an eleven year old boy acknowledged that puberty was being good (in an appreciative way) to them and not running away yelling "Cooties!"

Nowadays even that's not all that uncommon. I knew a pair of fifth graders (10-11 years old) that had sex in a private Presbyterian school where I worked. I busted her bragging to a friend and trying to flush the condom. It was truly disturbing. But at least they were being safe.

You know, my sister is twelve years old. I don't need those images thank you very much.

As for the puberty issue, if it's an AU then why not? Artistic license anyone?:awesome

    And now for something different:

A Neville centric fic, featuring a NL/HA romance and a mystery in a refreshing way. The writing is technically sound, the characterization is fitting and the mystery is interesting enough. 4/5

Personally I think this deserves a place in the library, but I'm not recommending it yet because the the introductory arc has yet to finish. Despite that, the story is paced decently. The characterizations are fairly well done, the worldbuilding is decent but not overly-emphasized, and the story doesn't indulge in most annoying fanon tropes involving goblins. It very nicely avoided super!Harry in one of the later chapters, too.

I'd actually give this a 4.5/5, rounded up, I'm just holding out to make sure it doesn't crash and when Harry gets to Hogwarts.

    No. It doesn't.

2/5. Because I didn't think I could possibly hate goblins more. It gets an extra point for that.

Nothing new in the premise here, but its been executed well enough. Characterization isn't over-the-top bad either as is common in fics like this; though there is a good deal of idiot!Dumbledore in the story that ruins his characterization even though the author tries to justify the idiocy.

All in all, a good fit for this thread, and certainly not deserving of the library, unless the author has something out of the world planned for the coming chapters.

I don't enjoy "friendly" Goblins either because that usually results into lazy cliches but this story has well developed characters with some inside into a different society. I can't really criticize the writer for not delivering grumpy throat cutting darwinistic goblins I so crave:rolleyes:

@Vylos: I'm curious to see what other fics exist where Harry has been raised by Goblins exclusively. I'm sure that if any of them were any good at all I would have already seen them.

Perhaps this sort of fic hasn't been done this way before, but I prefer my Goblins deceitful and murderous. It's readable, but that's about all you can say about it.

I guess my problem with this story isn't the goblins, actually. As far as I can tell, this probably isn't that far from how Goblin society functions in canon. However, I find Harry's characterization really unbelievable; he feels like a bad OC named Harry Potter. I wish there was more delving into exactly what 'Goblin Magic' is, because as it stands it appears be vastly inferior to Wand magic (it appears to be significantly slower, less versatile, and more complicated), to the point where I'm honestly not sure how these goblins didn't get wiped out by the wizards.

I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion. We're seeing low level magic that the young are taught. Also, it would make sense that their magic is heavily focused on metalworking and warding, given that those are their major occupations.

    Bold mine, for emphasis.

Everything goblin magic does seems to revolve around augmenting what's already there. Making indestructible armor seems crappy in the face of The Unforgivables, and the ability to conjure gasses to smother or do far worse things to the goblins. Warding seems to be shared by both races, and Wizards only really need to wave a stick around a little to do the same thing as the goblins, who need a chisel and a hammer. From what we know, Goblin magic is more focused and simply doesn't have the depth and/or breadth of Wand magic.
